I had the pleasure of contributing to the first volume of the new journal Orientalia Antiqua et Nova. This includes a section on Safavid "Italian" diplomacy where I offer some reflections on diplomatic relations with certain Italian states generally overlooked.

The volume delves into the Mediterranean as a space of transformation, tracing objects like Byzantine silks and bronze doors, Arabic geographies, Hebrew texts, African bolsas and ‘dead’ bodies of holy women as they moved, reshaped, and gained new meanings across cultures and time.
