Finally, a counterpoint to one of my own

It is so hard to be trans right now, y’all. Like, I can’t speak for everyone but I’m white-knuckling it pretty much constantly at this point. I hope cis people are understanding how much is at stake for us in this moment: It’s literally our right to exist as ourselves that is being stripped away.

rewatching The Deep House feels wildly different after hearing about that Austrian mountaineering case, and learning that "take woman into dangerous area then abandon her because she's too slow" is apparently just a thing outdoorsy guys do sometimes

I am a ride or die Fabris girlie, I acknowledge no technique supreme to Become Combat Crab, and yet ... the Thibault guys, they scare me

look everybody shits on it but there's a reason the two best rapier guys in the Southern Hemisphere (who are #1 and #11 internationally) are Thibault guys

I'm fascinated by Destreza, like I know it makes perfect historical sense especially in the context of duels between nobles, but it's still weird that there's a whole swordfighting school whose core philosophy is "if you need to stab or cut the guy to win then you're a fucking loser"

CK3 stories:

1) want to build the Kingdom of Sweden.
2) Sweden is tribal and the easiest way to change that is to conquer England.
3) Conquer England, Denmark, and Norway.
4) reform to Feudalism.
5) massive civil war immediately loses me everything except Sweden.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED????

it's been surreal watching youtubers trying to segue from Iran War coverage into their sponsor segment

I asked this guy "what do you do" he said "I goon", I said "good go break that guy's kneecaps" and he looked at me like I'd lost it

this fuel crisis sounds pretty bad for new zealand, if only there was some kind of road vehicle that carries many passengers that could economise the amount of fuel used.

if only somebody had written in, say, 2022, that New Zealand was uniquely vulnerable to the Strait of Hormuz getting shut down but thankfully we could prevent this by taking action immediately

occasionally I remember that bizarre corporate memo I received about being "fully ORBed", that a good employee was ORBed at all times, and asking themselves whether they were straying from the ORB principles and at no point did it explain what ORB meant

brioche is barely bread, brioche is the Odo of foods, it is a loose soup that has been briefly coaxed into solid form but as soon as it touches liquid it remembers its ancestors and loses all control

the last innovation I can remember was the brioche bun, and like pretty much all innovation of the last few decades it turned out to be a poisoned chalice

BRIOCHE DOESN'T LIKE BEING THAT CLOSE TO MEAT JUICE YOU FOOLS

it looked extremely legit, proper letterhead, address checked out – I only clocked it as sus because we don't have a property manager, then I hovered over the link in the email and hoo boy yeah that URL is gonna eat my entire computer. Watch yourselves.

Remember when people used to be all “hard times creates great art” because no actually it’s just this.

#kikorangi just as a heads up: seems like a new scam is sending phishing emails pretending to be property managers, asking you to update your details.

hey, so, this is wildly irresponsible "reporting" that seems to be for the express purpose of garnering fear clicks from trans women, and idk why nobody's calling this out. This Is Not Happening, Nor Will It Ever Happen. thread.

I joke but "these guys think real life works like Civilization" has been a recurring drumbeat of a shocking amount of terrible geopolitical takes of the last 20 years

look, Taika, matua, I know this is a lot to ask, but you gotta come get your evil half. I don't know whether you need to reconcile with him to reabsorb him or kill him with a sword or whatever but this has gone too far.

the military engineer from civilization 6, a man in a uniform with a big hammer. he is rather cartoonily stylized.

um it's very easy to get around the strait of hormuz, you need to have a city with an encampment and an armory and build a military engineer. He'll have two build charges and each of them can be used to build a tunnel.

update: the Beatles have met a creature that isn't evil and they've all burst into song about how much he sucks

I cannot imagine watching Yellow Submarine while tripping. All these creatures are hellish and cruel. The Beatles have found themselves in a loveless place. Entirely the wrong vibe.

it really shouldn't be surprising, but it's still bizarre seeing all these incel freaks accidentally revive the worst Ancient Greek argument: "it's gay to have sex with women, because women are feminine"
