Applying for grants and advocating for investments takes determination and project prioritization. We have many needs and limited sources of funding pots.

Conceptually, it's messed up that transit funding is now in the hands of a citizens measure requiring signature gathering for the issue to even make it on the ballot. However, it does mean the issue stands a better chance at passing, only requiring a simple majority rather than a super majority.

A 6-year-old spent 4 minutes scootering alone from a local park. Child protection services found his parents 'neglectful.' Mallerie Shirley and her husband were found to be neglectful of their 6-year-old after letting him scooter to a park alone.

One thing that stands out to me about this story is that the kid was able to scoot safely on a car-free trail to the park, which was a third of a mile away. That's the exact kind of infrastructure that makes this sort of thing safe for kids.
