Screenshot of CNN Business headline: Block laying off nearly half its staff due to AI, with photo of Jack Dorsey.

4,000 jobs cut out of 10,000 directly attributed to AI. Stock price soared. UBI is inevitable.

South Korea county gave everyone UBI - regardless of age, income, or assets - in their local currency Muju Love Gift Certificates ('Muju Sarang'🫰)

"we expect this to offer practical help to the lives of residents and also serve as a catalyst to reinvigorate the local economy"

"People won't work if you give cash."

The evidence keeps piling up: guaranteed income increases employment and improves job quality.

In CA pilots, full‑time jobs rose up to 2x vs control; higher‑quality jobs 3x.

JUST IN: Conservatives and Liberals work together to make Basic Income happen in PEI.

"Poverty is a policy choice. Let's choose a different policy."

GBI can cost 5% of what poverty costs, with virtually 0 work impact. PEI's Progressive Conservative leadership has been for it.

BC's property assessment was designed so we could tax land rents more, and productivity less.

It's the best place to do it with the best available data.

Portrait of Peter Wills beside quote saying land value tax could be the market-oriented solution to housing affordability.

The cost of housing comes mostly from land values, which are shaped by the work society does around it. It's fair for that value to be shared with the larger society that created it.

Tweet saying people don’t want to work anymore because working no longer pays.

Imagine working full-time to barely make rent and the house makes more than you (it's taxed less than you too)

Let's make it even better: shift income taxes to land. It's by far the biggest source of wealth and poverty, and the thing we all need to live.

Social media exchange: β€œWhy is our generation unhappy?” Reply: β€œRent 50% of my income.”

1/2 of your labour goes to using land
1/4 of your labour goes to the government

How about we tax land instead of hard work?

From Bernie's AI Report

Real wages have *dropped* $30/week

His recommendations:

- 32-hour workweeks with no pay loss
- Employee stock ownership, employees on boards
- Robot tax
- Guaranteed income: family/medical leave, seniors
- Ban stock buybacks

Tweet arguing taxes hit work most and calling for a land value tax instead of taxing labor and capital.

We're taxing what people do earn from work MORE than what people don't earn from land.

It's the opposite of what we should do and what's driving the housing crisis and poverty.

Jens Stoltenberg beside quote on Norway taxing oil profits, arguing natural resource rents belong in common to the people.

Norway's sovereign wealth fund reflects a shared belief that the value of nature is something owned in common.

It's time Canadians shared this mindset of safeguarding, not squandering, our natural resource wealth.

UBI is the collective bargaining of the AI economy.

It’s no longer workers against employers -- it’s humans against machines.

And none of those jobs will be available elsewhere, as AI takes them all.

If I had UBI, I'd still be working at my old retail job
I only left cuz I was paid shit & the bosses thought they could treat me like shit, too.

With UBI, bosses need to make their company a good place to work cuz there's nothing keeping people there.

Humanoids are already in our factories and it's only going to ramp up from here.

In the 90s-2000s, globalization and automation displaced millions in manufacturing, including my dad and uncle whose incomes never recovered. The impact of humanoids is going to be way bigger.
