Trump is a symptom. The difference this time around compared to last time is: this time there is an actual plan and the organization and money to implement it. Trump doesn’t plan. He can’t. He is all intuition (if I am to be polite about it). Democracy is bad for oligarchs.

Pondering the tariffs question. I suspect the motives are less to do with threatening Mexico and Canada and more to do with bringing USA’s own corporate oligarchs to heel. For example, I suspect the auto industry execs are busy pledging allegiance and money to Trump. The rest of us chase our tails.
