Over the last days, people across the EU filled the streets to call for an end to violence against women.
According to the EIGE 2025 Gender Equality Index, domestic violence remains widespread and underreported across the EU β a reminder of why our voices and actions matter.
The next MFF is not just a budget! It is the foundation for the EUβs role in shaping a just, equal, and sustainable world π

Despite its rhetoric, the #EU is undermining multilateral processes aiming to democratise & improve global economic governance. This hypocrisy was evident last week when it again opposed a UN intergovernmental process on #debt architecture. Read our OpEd: euobserver.com/eu-and-the-w...

With negotiations now beginning on the EUβs next long-term budget (MFF), this is a crucial moment to demand stronger political and financial commitments to gender equality and accessible funding for feminist organisations.

#16DaysofActivism #EndVAW
On this International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, ActionAid is raising an important message: fund #feminist futures now.
From Malawi to Ukraine, feminist activists are calling for one thing: long-term, flexible, and accessible funding for womenβs rights organisations.
Fossil fuels grabbed the spotlight at #COP30, while the conditions to phase them out β rich countries moving first and backing others β were sidelined.
Thatβs how climate ambition is turned against those who did least to cause the crisis, and the Paris Agreement is weakened.
Paris is simple: rich countries go first. When the EU drags its feet on phase-out, it gives others an excuse to do the same.
It canβt shout βambitionβ and keep burning.
If EU wants to unlock #COP30, it must back a equitable phase-out and make a big leap on adaptation finance.
@PriceofOil
analysis shows real expansion of oil & gas since Paris comes from a few rich producers β the US, Canada, Australia & Norway drove nearly 40% of the increase, while rest of the world cut output by 2%.
Blaming the βGlobal Southβ for lack of ambition is simply false
Europe also burns far more fossil energy per person than many countries; 4Γ India and more than China or Brazil.
A Paris-compatible fair-share path means: coal out by 2030, gas by 2035, oil by 2040.
Instead, EU weakened its 2040 target and rolled back green rules.
Fossil companies in the EU made over β¬180bn in taxable profits in just 2022β23, while governments kept >β¬100bn/yr in fossil fuel subsidies.
The EU isnβt just disproportionately consuming fossil fuels β it is profiteering from them!
Since Paris, EU-based banks have poured β¬40.2bn into fossil fuels & industrial agriculture in the Global South β 4Γ more than the β¬9.7bn/yr the EU gives as real climate finance.
Europe doesnβt need to wait for the South to phase out fossil fuels β it literally bankrolls them
At #COP30 the EU poses as champion of a #fossilfuel fuel phase-out.
But it doesnβt need others to move first: it funds it, burns it, banks the profits, then points the finger South.
Thatβs not climate ambition β itβs demagoguery.

Ahead of the 7th #AUEU2025 Summit in Luanda, civil society from Africa and Europe are calling for a reset of the AUβEU partnership.
Our new joint statement urges leaders to centre equality, just trade, climate justice and debt reform, not profit or extractivism.

π¨ In the final days of #COP30, we need to be very clear:
π£A just transition away from fossil fuels needs public money, and rich countries need to pay their fair share π£
The COP30 presidency risks derailing the entire negotiations by saying otherwise.

Week two at #COP30, the EU is asking everyone to step up climate action.
But if it wonβt step up on fairness β more support for those who did least to cause the crisis β its calls will ring hollow.
No fair share, no real Paris ambition.

π βItβs game on for just transition!β
At #COP30 in BelΓ©m, the G77 + China have united to call for a new global mechanism to deliver on just transition, a powerful moment for climate justice.
ActionAidβs new report shows just 3% of climate finance supports just transition. It is time for change.

Today the European Parliament approved its Omnibus I mandate, weakening #CSDDD.
By siding with far-right forces and corporate lobbies, MEPs signal that EU values and the rights of women and communities in the global South are negotiable when they collide with short-term corporate profit.
