But back to your point, some level of optimism, even as a form of self deception (fake it until you make it and all that) is necessary for getting shit done. Constantly thinking about pessimistic "what ifs" will only do so much before it becomes genuinely detrimental instead of cautious.

People who get so caught up in their own misery that the minute something challenges it, they fight against it.

It doesnt help that the popular idea of being informed also includes being snarky & irreverent, avoiding being "cringe", etc.

And to some degree, it IS normal for the human mind to be unable to keep up with everything. There is only so much that can be done when being inundated with the absolute worst from around the globe before you freeze up

Its why I encourage people to focus on what they CAN do besides doomposting.

All of us are guilty of this. All of us.

These moments of horror become media Flashpoints for everyone online, moments where people can show off how "moral" they are for what they think, for posting the most horrific images, before moving onto the next tragedy like vultures.

Media has always done this, this isnt unique to the current regime.

It's no longer "popular" to talk about, therefore the media focus turns to other subjects.

It happened with Ukraine. It happened with Palestine. It happened with goddamn near everything people say they'll "get louder" about.
