08.02.2026 17:03 β π 36 π 8 π¬ 0 π 1Photo of a marble owl sculpted in relief. The owl is facing forwards with wings folded behind. The sculpture is a rectangular shape with broken edges because it originally was part of a seat, likely from a theater. The owl is a symbol of Athena, so this is was perfect for the Athenian acropolis.
Owls rule.
This one decorated a marble seat. It was found on the acropolis in Athens, likely dating to the 4th century BCE. Possibly from the Odeion of Pericles.
Now in the Acropolis Museum, Athens.
Photo my own.

08.02.2026 18:27 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The season storywriter (a friend of my ex) walked away with a nice upper five-figure payday and the festival almost went bust paying him off. They definitely screwed him over but the failure to distinguish between gross and net was a big self-own.
08.02.2026 18:27 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I know a horror story about how a Renaissance festival violated their contract with their season storywriter, who sued them. They lost (the plaintiff had an IP lawyer from a big firm & the defendants were pro se) and the defendants only gave the judge gross receipts for that year, not the net.

It's absolutely CRITICAL that one curates one's counterculture, or else you get antivax and Soros theories and chemtrail bullshit and all kinds of other fascist/protofascist horrors.

Greg Abbott saying Texas is taking over FWISD because it has failed students for five years in a row, quoting a Star Telegram article about anti-ICE student protests
A post from Texas Governor Greg Abbott today clearly indicates he is factoring the political views of public school students into his narrative justifying a state takeover of a local school district.
