Your daily reminder that just because ICE hasn’t murdered someone today doesn’t mean things have “deescalated.”

ICE is continuing to profile, harass, and terrorize communities across our state. The only way to truly de-escalate is for the federal occupation of Minnesota to end.

7. Now is not a time to fold, it is a time to fight.

8. Because most Americans reject Trump’s cruelty and corruption – they want real change that makes health care more affordable for all. We should listen and act accordingly.

4. Things are about to get worse - for millions of Americans who will see their health insurance rates skyrocket due to Congressional inaction.

5. The Trump and Republican budget that guts Medicare? Also making our broken health care system worse.

6. This is a bad deal.

3. In fact, the Trump/Republican Trifecta went to great lengths – including starving families – to stop even a conversation about ways to blunt rising healthcare costs.

Some truths about this “deal” to end the government shutdown:

1. Americans are paying too much for health care in a broken system and they are desperate for change.

2. Nothing in this “deal” changes a thing.

The reality is cities NEED the state's help to solve a statewide problem: w/ funding & policy reforms. Today we will pass a bill w/$20M for public infrastructure to build homes. It's the right thing to do but we won't maximize impact if cities keep fighting for a failing status quo.

Must read story on ways cities are failing Minnesota's most vulnerable renters. Meanwhile, city lobby groups are fighting to kill legislation to build more homes under guise of "local control." How is local control working out for these renters? mprnews.org/story/2025/0... #mnleg

It's been said many times that a President gets too much credit when our economy is doing well and too much blame when it is doing poorly. Not this time. Our economy is tanking and it's all on Trump's tariffs. And who gets shanked by this epic self-inflicted wound? You.

The Trump tariffs will raise prices, eliminate jobs, & sabotage Minnesota's economy. I'm introducing a bill to study and create an action plan to address the ripple effects of the Trump tariffs because when the federal gov't fails us, the state of Minnesota must step up and work for the people.

Congrats to “Mr. 67” David Gottfried and the huge turnout from Democrats in 40B!

In last special election (March 2024) we saw 7% voter turnout. Today, 6 TIMES that many people voted- 47%!- including 9,352 for Gottfried.

Needlessly to say, Democrats are fired up! #mnleg

Minnesota's February budget forecast is $800M worse in the long-term than our November forecast on news of worsening inflation and economic uncertainty. What is the one major difference between November and today? 🤔

Brooklyn Park mayor lashes back at neighboring suburbs in density dispute Maple Grove and Champlin mayors say Brooklyn Park should keep apartments away from their borders. Brooklyn Park’s mayor says that’s “regional redlining.”

This is remarkable. A city cites NIMBY tropes to push another from building more homes. We absolutely need a statewide approach to address our housing shortage. No single city can solve this on its own, especially when some are trying to pull BS like this.

Corporate landlords are using price fixing algorithms to illegally jack up the rent of Minnesotans. It's outrageous and we need it to stop. Today we introduced legislation to crack down on this rampant corporate greed responsible for driving up your rent. #mnleg

Case-in-point why we need housing reform to unlock starter home production 👇

Today the House GOP introduced bills to:

- Roll back paid family leave
- Restrict reproductive rights
- Cut public schools
- Roll back action on climate change

House Dems will fight this extreme MAGA agenda. And due to the power sharing agreement we secured we will hold the line.

Trump is doing nothing to make housing or groceries more affordable. Meanwhile he wants to freeze:

-Care for people w/disabilities
-Head Start
-Meals on Wheels
-Services for the unhoused and domestic violence survivors

And the cruelty & chaos is all in service to billionaires pulling the strings.

Thank you to Nicole Smith-Holt and the fierce Minnesota insulin advocates who fought Big Pharma and won. Everyone in our state should be able to afford the medications they need to thrive. Thanks to Attorney General Ellison and many others, we have more momentum than ever. Let's keep going! #mnleg

Disrupting committee hearings, even fraudulent ones, shouldn't happen. But it's a bit rich hearing the faux outrage from House Republicans when their President just pardoned 1500 J6 rioters, including criminals that brutally attacked police officers. The GOP silence is deafening.

I’m hopeful that the Governor will include needed investments for housing in his Cap Invest proposal & that the #mnleg can work together on both investment & policy change to build more homes. People are asking us to do more to address about the cost of housing and we need to listen.

The Governor's general fund budget includes zero new $ for housing. The state budget picture is different than last session, but we must do better. Without new investment & policy change that jumpstarts more home construction, Minnesotans will continue to see housing costs rise.

As we enter Day 3 of this #mnleg House Republican coup/sham, just wondering if anyone has actually asked them why they think it’d be OK to just throw out a legislator who fairly won his election.

Just as Trump attempted to overthrow an election he lost, so too are the Republicans in the Minnesota House. And just as Donald Trump failed with his coup attempt, so too will they. While Republicans “play House” Democrats are standing with the people and will prevent this abuse of power.

Too many working Minnesotans simply can't afford a home to rent or own. To fix this fundamental flaw in our economy we must solve our housing shortage. That's why I'm excited to co-chair our Housing & Finance Policy Committee. Let's listen to the people & say YES to more homes.
