LANs follow that trend too. They’re non regular (and paid) events so of course you want to give people as much playing time as possible. There’s also inherently a lot more coordinating involved. Can/should the normal lan experience be changed into a regular thing? That’s another discussion.
Tho I wasnt very picky with who I played with so that makes it easier to just hop in and play without coordinating a lot. For sure people have their own valid reasons for being selective and that seems like it’s a common sentiment so the events optimize for making the most out of that experience.
I’m probably the minority in this but I always wished splat had more cutthroat events when I played. Sure it sucks to go 0-2 but if it’s something like a regular weekly then it’ll be there again next week.
