His run for president transformed our party. I was sitting in the front row when he came and plopped right down in our row two days of the convention. No pretense. No ego. Just love. I’ll never forget that.
Every Black person in elected office, and every one of us who aspires to be, owes him a debt we can never repay. I met Rev. Jackson — whom my civil rights grandparents adored — of all places, on the floor of the 2016 Democratic Convention.
Rev. Jesse Jackson changed the course of history. His passing during the 100th celebration of Black History Month is as sad as it is profound.
He reminded little Black boys like me that “I am somebody.”

We can’t let them whitewash history. Five years later, they’re still attacking our Constitution and our democracy.
HISTORY! Today my brother-from-another Joshua Siegel became the youngest ever county executive in Pennsylvania. I will miss him in the House, but I know how well served Lehigh county will be with him at the helm. Damn proud!
