We cannot accept a politics that treats violence as normal. We cannot ask people to serve while fearing for their lives. America should be led by values. Today made it clear this president does not have any.

Pennsylvania Reps. Chris Deluzio and Chrissy Houlahan were targeted. They are veterans and dedicated public servants who have honored this nation in uniform and in Congress, and as my friends I know they spoke up because they refuse to stay silent in the face of this kind of danger.

We are a country that has already lived through political violence. We have buried people. A real president would try to bring the nation together after that pain. Trump never does. He keeps dividing people.

Today the President of the United States called for the killing of his political opponents. People need to understand how serious that is.

This is not normal. This cannot be something only Democrats condemn. Every leader and American must condemn this.

She was one of my closest confidants, an unshakable support system, and a constant reminder in this crazy world that I was loved.

I’m not okay, but day by day I’ll find a new normal. And push forward like she would require.

Surrounded by family, my aunt, Angela Brooks said her final goodbye yesterday. My aunt Angie was more like a grandmother to me than an aunt.

Her passing opens a hole impossible to fill—even with her lessons and boundless love. I don’t know what life will look like without her.
