It means a lot! 💜✊

Join us on Wed., June 18th, for Esra Özyürek's talk on her book "Subcontractors of Guilt: Holocaust Memory and Muslim Belonging in Post-War Germany" at FU Berlin or online. Much looking forward to a timely debate!
Last week, we learnt that our university management is planning to cut our 3rd professorship in Social & Cult. Anthropology. This would have fatal consequences for our Institute at the FU Berlin and our discipline in the German speaking countries. We will struggle against this and hope for support!
At a time when there is a shift to right-wing and authoritarian forces and an increasing hostility towards the social sciences and humanities, social and cultural anthropology is more important than ever:

Wir waren hier! Anthros der FU #Berlin sind #unkürzbar
Shocked and saddened by the news of Michael Buroway's tragic death. I remember my excitement while reading Global Ethnography in summer 2003, a book that had a profound impact on my PhD project. R.I.P. Michael!

Unfortunately, and contrary to the poster announcement, André Thiemann and Andrew Gilbert will not be able to make it. We hope to invite them again in the following semester!
We will meet at 4.15 in the FU Seminar Center, room L113, and online per Webex, see www.polsoz.fu-berlin.de/ethnologie/e...
Join us this Wed. Jan. 29 for a talk on Christof Lammer's "Performing State Boundaries: Food Networks, Democratic Bureaucracy and China," with Quirin Rieder as the discussant. Based on long-term ethnographic fieldwork, the book questions the taken-for-granted notion of blurred boundaries.
What's the role of sacred sites in conflict-ridden state border areas in Israel/Palestine and India/Pakistan? On Wed., Dec. 11, 4 pm Prof. Nurit Stadler will give a timely talk in our Dept. Seminar. Join us @FU_Berlin or online.
