A Poet's Touch...

"JUST BUFFALO", Allentown's popule poetry reading forum, featured the charismatic Anselm Hollo and placid Alice Notley at its first reading of the season two weeks ag0. Both were received warmly by an audience of devoted followers, numbering approxi- mately 75 by unofficial estimate of coordinator Debora Daley, who began the series four known far and wide [Hollo from New York and Finland, Notley from Rochester] but features local poets as well. Last weekend's reading brought Joanne Kyger. Shown above at the Allentown Community Center are Debora Daley, Alice Notley, and Anselm Hollo.

Still hearing Notley's protean voices from her reading in Buffalo. There won't be another. Went looking for older Buffalo connections and came up with...this?

I loved these questions and this conversation--drop in for a discussion of the naming of the Pictures Generation, semiotics in the work of Andrew Topolski, how to be both artists and partners, and much more.

Allentown artists and activists killed in their home Two well-known Allentown figures in the arts and LGBTQ+ community were killed at their St. Louis Place apartment on Tuesday.

Very sad day in Buffalo and huge loss for the community. Heard a WBFO live report from the mayor's press conference while I was driving home from work, and when the names were reported my first reaction was disbelief. Here's what the Buffalo News is reporting so far.
