Just a reminder that your local library has more than just books! Many also have dvds, cds, video games, game systems, internet hot spots, streaming services, ebooks, audio books, park passes, museum passes, and so so much more! Maybe it's time for a visit!

OK miss me with the bullshit that writers are ONLY on social media to sell books.

We're also humans who have pets and gardens and baked goods and pancakes that improbably come out of the pan looking like goats.

Where else are we supposed to talk about those things? Just stand outside and yell??

I can never understand why children's books get left out of "great book" lists. The books we call "children's books" are really books written for an audience that includes children, but excludes no-one. They are books for EVERYONE - and if you exclude them, you miss the most important books of all!

I don't know about the rest of y'all, but I think most librarians are here to spread our gospel: reading, information literacy, and critical thinking.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers guitarist Mike Campbell wrote "The Boys of Summer" while experimenting with a LinnDrum drum machine. He showed it to Tom Petty, but they felt it did not fit with the record they were working on, Southern Accents.
He then gave it to Don Henley.

I work at a library, and we offer so much more than books. Patrons have access to: 3D printers, a soundproof recording studio, Cricut machines, thousands of DVDs, board games, Legos, and free classes on writing, finances, ESL, book making, etc. Check out your public library, you might be surprised!

Authors receive a payment every time you borrow a book, audiobook or ebook from libraries in 35 countries. Those countries include the UK, Canada, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Germany to name but a few. Borrowing a book helps the author’s pocket as well as yours.

A quote from one of my favorite novels. This book got me to really think about grief, love, and the inner workings of my own mind. #TheDogsOfBabel #Literature

I started being regularly published when I was 25. I didn't make my first dollar writing until I was 30. I didn't sell my first novel or screenplay until I was 35. Many of you hadn't even heard of anything I'd written until I was over 40.

You have time. There is no expiration date on writers.

This is your reminder to get a library card. They have so many services and basically all of them are free.

Books.

When buying books for gifts this holiday season, please don't buy from Amazon. Please shop at your local independent bookstore/bookseller. Ask for recommendations. If they don't have a particular book in stock, ask them to order it.

Support creatives, local businesses, and your community.

Every single school should have a library & a librarian, to help every single child find the books that will make them readers, and give them all the lifelong benefits of literacy. Libraries & librarians change children's lives FOREVER!

Have you ever discovered an author that isn’t new to the world, but is new to you, and it feels as if you’re world has expanded somehow? Now you have so many more books to read by this particular writer... Who is that author for you?

The best part of working in a library is getting to walk around the library before it opens.

When a writer says they've outlined their story, what they really mean is they've envisioned 3-4 cool scenes they now need to somehow tie together into a plot

Yes, libraries are invaluable for their collections and public services they offer, but also social contact without the expectation to interact with anyone or spend any money is so important to so many people
