Hereโ€™s my reading list for the winter break ๐Ÿ˜Š Iโ€™ll try to read as many as I can but I tend to overplan, so Iโ€™m also cognizant that itโ€™s a lot of books and itโ€™s okay to not finish all of them before Jan 6. Still, I am super excited to have a cozy and reading-intense holidays

Weird, it wasnโ€™t paywalled before (I donโ€™t have a subscription to NYT and yet was able to access the whole thing). Can send you a pdf, if youโ€™re interested!

Letโ€™s not forget that โ€œthe great ru cultureโ€ became possible because of assimilation of some writers, artists, musicians and execution of many others

Unexpectedly there is a decent article in todayโ€™s @nytimes.com about the executed renaissance and how Russia continues to destroy Ukrainian culture in the ongoing war (link in the next comment)

This Wednesday, 12/4, I am back in Boston, presenting some ideas of mine at the Harvard Ukrainian Research Institute. I will talk about how imperial ambitions sometimes disguise themselves as care about the vulnerable and humanitarianism

I added this book to my reading list today after learning it exists! Somehow I also missed that Robin Wall Kimmerer has written a new book

Brought this book from #ASEEES24. And it is amazing. Iโ€™ve been reading it on the plane, in the dog park, every spare second I get. A huge thanks to @popovaprof.bsky.social and @oxanashevel.bsky.social for writing such a timely, thoughtful, and easy to read book!

This Friday at #ASEEES Iโ€™ll be my usual grumpy self talking about feminist and anti-authoritarian initiatives in Ukraine during war and whether โ€œliberationโ€ even means anything now. I donโ€™t promise to be very articulate, but I do have some thoughts and Iโ€™ll be in a good company
