Day 29: APP

I highlighted the VTT yesterday, so today I'll praise #FoundryVTT specifically. Playtesting and polishing The Dread of Dynwel would not have been possible without it. Below: my intrepid playtest group battle Krulk Razortooth and his strange pets. #DnD5e #RPGaDay2024

Day 28: GADGET

The VTT. Playing with far flung friends online has revolutionized gameplay for us. Without #FoundryVTT I wouldn't have finished running my level 20 #DnD5e game or seen Delf the Elf kill a Basilisk then turn to stone simultaneously in #OSE. #RPGaDay2024

Day 27: MINIATURE

I love using minis. This was from the #Spelljammer/#Planescape section of the campaign. Grimslither, the dracolich, guards the phylactery of Tyraxis. Undead wizards counterspell the party below, while Eldarion and Dromis ride the undead wyrm. #RPGaDay2024 #DnD

Day 26: SUPERB SCREEN

I am fan of the digest size of #Shadowdark, but it also features a digest sized screen with useful information, including NPCs, random encounter charts, and luxury treasure! Plus, the art is amazing. #RPGaDay2024

Day 25: ANECDOTE

Playin #FFGStarWars end game Smuggler: Pilot. BBEG fight in hangar. Friends engage. My focus: abscond w/ giant kyber crystal. Abandon plan. Get to ship. Guns ruined by sith. Detach hull fighter. Gunnery 'dead to rights' blast the sith. End Campaign. #RPGaDay2024 #Womprat

Day 22: CHARACTER

Day 21: CLASSIC CAMPAIGN

Got to play a converted Desert of Desolation a few years back now. Enjoyed the desert mechanics, tracking supplies, losing gear and camels, and also Krios the Windlord. Kiawty, my tabaxi, made sure to keep his stuff safe. #RPGaDay2024 #DnD5e #RIPKrios

Day 20: ADVENTURE

The most amazing adventures happen at the table. I recall playing Rary the Traitor, in #Greyhawk. As things go, we got off track into the marshes (far away). The DM improvised. Chased by ghouls we made lizardfolk allies to hold them off. #RPGaDay2024 #DnD2e

The overall battle included units deployed against ground cities, 3 enemy fleets vs the 3 ragtag ally fleets collected over the campaign, individual local spelljammer battles, plus boarding fights. All rotating through cycles as the battle progressed.

Day 19: SESSION

Fighting through his #Spelljammer fleet the PC's stormed Tyraxis's flagship. Weakening the lich, the dragonborn sorcerer Kriv used a timestop to: destroy the phylactery, trigger two retributive strikes, and get clear of the blast! #RPGaDay2024 #DnD5e #FinalSession

Day 18: MOMENT

A favorite #OSE one. A basilisk turned half the party to stone, Delf the Elf stands alone. Initiative is a tie. Simultaneous actions. Delf skewers with greatsword, a fatal blow. Delf fails save vs gaze and turns to stone, basilisk dead upon his blade. #RPGaDay2024

Day 17: COMMUNITY

The community in my personal life, my closest friends, are all from playing #TTRPG. Communities I enjoy now include #MCDM and #Shadowdark as standouts. I see a lot of love and care put into the products but also the people enjoying the game. #RPGaDay2024

Day 16: QUICK

No single answer on this one. I think any #TTRPG can be quick to learn. Even more involved systems. Just take it step by step, be patient, look stuff up if needed. I myself learned quickly after a man named Bargle killed my new friend, Aleena. #RPGaDay2024 #BECMI

Day 15: GEAR

I love gear in a #TTRPG. I have early favorites like #Shadowrun and the Q Manual for the 007 RPG. But consistently #Rifts books are the ones I open right to the gear section. Coalition armor, Glitterboys' railguns, inter-dimensional magic shops! #RPGaDay2024

Day 14: CHARACTERS

The most compelling character any #TTRPG campaign is any NPC mentioned by the GM in an off-hand remark.

A few years ago I played a spy/agent in a #Traveller campaign. I enjoyed the character creation mini-game. Felt like I knew who I was playing. #RPGaDay2024

Day 13: ENVIRONMENTS

Echoing the #DarkSun aesthetic and using the #Shadowdark rules, I recently procured #Shadowsun. I gotta say I love the flavor and punchy, evocative text. Especially, the Adventure Sites section for the #RPGaDay2024 prompt. Fans of Athas will enjoy Althea.

Day 12: CAMPAIGNS

I think #DnD5e, including 3rd party and #DMsGuild, has well-supported campaigns. Across many VTT's, from small publishers and starry-eyed individuals. I even made my own: tinyurl.com/Dynwel #RPGaDay2024

Day 11: ONE-SHOTS

I've only ever played a one-shot of #CallofCthulhu but I understand it is well known for its one-shots. My sanity loss over the day's long one-time session with an expert GM was truly epic though. #RPGaDay2024 #CoC #TTRPG

Day 10: TV

There are many #TTRPG properties I would watch. I'd love a #BladesintheDark or a #Shadowrun show. I'll take either in a live-action or animated series. #RPGaDay2024

This is an almost perfect solution. Almost. Needs more electroshock, but I'll allow it. Being serious for a minute, I did use one of the combat trackers before, but this one is feature rich. Thanks.

Day 9: ACCESSORY (I'd like to see)

I'd appreciate a bot (like a real robot) that pings (read as electroshocks) whoever is up next in initiative and then again when the turn happens. It can keep track of initiative for me while I run the rest of the game. #RPGaDay2024 #TTRPG

Day 8: ACCESSORY

Whether you store your precious #mathrocks in fancy artisanal wooden coffins or folded in silk handkerchiefs, a good home is important. For me, this #RPGaDay2024, it's the dice bag. Made by my incredible girlfriend using a #Nålebinding technique.

Day 7: GOOD FORM

My favorite form of #TTRPG book is digest sized. Games like #Knave2e and #Shadowdark where I can hold the book in my hand while I move a mini or draw a map. #RPGaDay2024

Day 6: EASY

While researching which system to use for my #OSR game running Tomb of the Serpent Kings by Skerples, I chose to run #OSE for it's presentation and ease of use. I even rewrote the entries in Foundry using bolding and parentheses. #RPGaDay2024

2e was our high school and college games so definitely had more time then to get the full experience. By the time 3e came in I had moved on to using GURPS to have a more flexible magic system and more detailed combat system. I'd def play a 2e game again tho
