FP4+ pushed to 500 for the fjords today? Screw it, why not, itβs been a while!

A floating hand holds a Canon EOS 300 film SLR camera, with a mountainous backdrop.
A lone cabin sits next to a small body of water on top of Mount Ulriken, Norway. The cabin is perfectly reflected in the still water.
Thanks to all your suggestions, I did indeed take the EOS 300 on my trip! Definitely feels like the right choice.
Currently have it loaded with some Fuji Sensia 100 for a hike around Mount Ulriken here in Bergen π π³π΄

Precisely my thinking too! It's a very dependable bit of kit, and the AF I can trust a lot more than my shoddy eyesight these days π
13.10.2025 17:59 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The whole camera box is screaming at me but I had to somehow narrow it down! π
I love the OM system and usually travel with one, but my OM2n is a bit worse for wear these days and the OM10's meter seems to love just guessing. Still tempts me though.
The Vitomatic is wonderful - a must try!
I have indeed, spent quite a lot of time over there before the pandemic, so my first time in 6 years heading back!
I've not got all my images from my trips back then online anymore, but I suppose I'm always wanting to recreate the images of those days when I'm out hiking: rosie.scot/bergen_troms...
I'm trying to pick a camera to dust off for the trip and want to do things a bit differently this time (mainly going a bit lighter/portable). The shortlist is:
π· Canon EOS 300 w/ 2 lenses (a prime and zoom, tempting)
π· VoigtlΓ€nder Vitomatic IIa (also tempting)
π· My Olympus OM10 or OM2n
Any ideas?
Hiya #believeinfilm friends, it's been a minute!
Been working my butt off all year, only to have just been made redundant! Should've spent more time out shooting than toiling in the sugar caves :)
...so that's what I'm gonna do! I'm off to Norway on Thurs, and need some camera advice! (see below)
They are not! By this point they had moved to their own Praktica Bayonet (PB) mount that interfaces electrically with the lens, and is very similar to the Pentax K mount.
26.12.2024 20:55 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I definitely need to find a chance to head out and test it before Iβm back to work in the new yearβ¦

It turns out it was a bokehlicious Christmas after all! π
A photography-loving family member gave me this cute little Praktica BX20 in ridiculously good condition, with a *very* intriguing Sigma 28mm 2.8 *macro*. Right up my alley!
Happy holidays my friends! π

29.11.2024 18:34 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Oooh thanks for this! I've not shot Gold in 120 yet, looks like this might be as good a chance as any (if the fridge can fit any more in it) π
29.11.2024 16:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Oh I do love a bit of Sensia. That second shot is gorgeous, and the Sensia colours really compliment the building in the first!

29.11.2024 16:18 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Thanks Monika! I came across this one in my archive while looking for some old images of home and it felt very fitting for whatβs been on my mind recently. Glad I was able to convey that!

28.11.2024 23:35 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It is! The water in the White Cart river is always so clear, especially in the summer when its shallow, so you get some lovely reflections of the town hall. This must've been about 11 years ago now, and I remember that summer being just so damn hot and sunny, so perfect for reflections!
28.11.2024 20:22 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0A black and white image of the two towers of Paisley Town Hall, Scotland. The image is actually of the reflection of the town hall in the waters of the White Cart river directly beneath it. Both the grain of the image and the surface of the water distort the image slightly, including the prominent clock face on the tallest tower, so the time it shows is not readable.
I've been thinking a lot about home and where I grew up recently, and how sorely I miss it all despite all my complaining in my youth.
The longer I spend away, the blurrier and more rose-tinted the memories get.

You absolutely should! No fancy setup needed, it's amazing what you can pick up no matter where you point the camera!
All my film shots of it are quite grainy compared to my digital ones, but if anything I feel like the grain ended up adding to the magic of the occasion!
An image of the night sky covered in a whispy layer of clouds. The image is a longer exposure, so the clouds are smudged slightly in the shot showing their fast movement across the sky. Behind the clouds, many stars of various colours and brightness shine, accompanied by a green hue to the sky from the aurora borealis (northern lights).
Another from the shots of the aurora back in May β¨
The aurora had began to fade by this point, but it was still faintly visible. What I didn't expect was how many stars would shine through and how the clouds would compliment them!
