I honestly can't see how that absolves anyone in the past. Yes, people believed wildest shit to keep up their racism as a legitimate view. It makes it worse that they did it via pseudoscience.

The thread is very interesting, but this is an incredibly bad faith argument. That's how science works - something may or may not be in the mainstream for a bit, but when it's falsified, you are rejecting it and those who insist on sticking tomit are becoming pseudoscience cranks.
