Saying “I’m not racist” as a white person just misses the point.

Being white means benefiting from systems built on racism, regardless of your beliefs or intentions.

And the goal isn’t to deny that, it’s to stay aware of it and DO something about it.

Holocaust revisionism and white nationalism did not become societally verboten on their own. It took great effort and enormous sacrifice to construct the line that ruled them unacceptable within mainstream discourse, and even then they were always contested, the line always being challenged.

Former army here. It takes about a week of drill in basic to learn how to march. Once you do, it's ingrained in you for life. You know how to self-correct if you fall out of step. And if there isn't a commanding officer leading the march, there's a designated point person within the ranks to call out a "left-right-left" if they notice disorder in the cadence. The Philly No Kings march was peaceful if occasionally raucous, a super positive event across the board I'd say. Notable I think that there was no overwhelming police presence (a couple helicopters, yeah, and some patrol officers in normal duty uniform), no tacticool cosplay show of force at all

Let's all be very clear that ICE *and* regular cops refusing to identify themselves in any official or legible way is creating a situation that allows murderers and non-state kidnappers to successfully impersonate law enforcement.

We had kidnappers do this in Philly this week in ICE costumes, too.
