Thomson and Thompson from the Tintin comics. Originally Dupond and DuPont, their names are translated as Nisbet and Nesbit in Scots.

I’ll be at the Auld Alliance Comics Festival at the French Institute in Edinburgh this Sunday 6th July, talking about the Glasgow Looking Glass. Did you know that Thomson and Thompson, the detectives from the Tintin comics are called Nisbet and Nesbit in the Scots translations of the books?
