Trump promised scientific breakthroughs. Researchers say he’s breaking science. NIH funding for biomedical research has abruptly fallen by billions of dollars, with many grant decisions on hold. Trump officials say they’re reviewing the agency.

By age 12, children with ADHD have received 20,000 more negative messages about themselves than their peers without ADHD. Now imagine what not getting diagnosed until age 30, 40, or 50 does to someone’s self esteem.

The assault on NIH is a test for how the national media covers the Trump admin: Trump is shutting down medical research!

That is easy to communicate. Will they treat it as a 5 alarm fire in a way that forces the government to respond, or will they downplay & caveat it?

Scientific advancements aside, this is economically irresponsible

Every $1 spent by NIH generates $2.46

For example, in 2023, $47B in NIH spending generated ~$93B

Halting NIH spending will LOSE the US a lot of money (and talent)
