Anyone contributing to this is essentially killing Audio Description. At least, quality audio description. If you think this will be used as anything more than a cost cutting tool you're out of your mind. And cost reduction never leads to an increase in quality. The blind community deserves better.

This will be the final nail in the coffin for AD. Nothing about this is aimed at making it better and everything about this will only serve to make it worse for everyone that has dedicated their careers to the art form.

4) Creating poor sounding Audio Description isn't much cheaper than the great track. In fact the "savings" are shockingly low. So why does it happen? Because networks and production companies simply don't care. That's it! No other reason. Don't accept any other excuse

3) Anyone that claims the reason they aren't providing a quality track (or providing one at all) is because of the cost is lying. The average production spends more on the snacks for their crew. A lot more. If they claim they didn't have time, they're lying.

2) The cost of producing a track of that quality is absurdly low in comparison to the budget of the show you're describing. I'd guess on average less than half of one percent. On big budget shows it's far, far less.

Here's some FACTS about Audio Description.
1) It's takes 24 hours or less to turn around a track for an hour long episode of television. A track of the absolute highest quality written by a great writer, voiced by a live professional and mixed by a real person.
