Same! I've been trying various amounts of sketchiness cause when I spend too long adding detail or working on a fully rendered thing I'll often lose the feelings and energy I had for the original sketch. I'll end up with something that technically looks nicer but I'm more detached from it.

I had this experience with Fire Emblem 3H. Played the game for 80 hours, had a good time. Then I decided I had enough even though the end wasn't far, it was about to overstay its welcome in my eyes. I can look back on the game fondly despite dropping it.

My eyes were darting around and I read 6 move names before I recognized one and I'm like damn am I that unfamiliar with Painwheel's moveset? Ohhh yeah named normals lol

Earlier today I was thinking about your sona with the irl hair and thought she'd look nice with a poofy ponytail, then literally exactly that manifests on my timeline. What are the freakin' odds?! Anyway I love the doodles, all the expressions are great!

One thing that turned me off at first was that there were actually too many tracks to learn and a fair number were difficult and/or had some knowledge checks. But I fell in love with the mechanics at some point and that kept me engaged as I got wrecked on hard maps until I learned them.

I had a pretty decent time with Ring Racers at first but i didn't get hooked until ~80 hours in. The learning curve is brutal and the way car control changes due to all the various kinds of (not always apparent) speed boosts takes a long time to get used to.
