Panel 2 Polly quickly runs through the options in her head. This is a rare event and usually she just reheats some leftovers. But she's feeling bold. She's feeling experimental. She's wants to do something dangerous. Panel 3 Polly: We'll make dinner. Olivia: WHAT!? Is that allowed? Olivia has never heard such a thing. Kids making dinner? Aren't there laws against this. Panel 4 Polly is unconcerned. Her best friend Gwen makes dinner all the time so it can't be too hard. Polly heads to the kitchen. Olivia is already thinking of all the things that could go wrong. She's probably right to be concerned. Polly: It'll be easy. Olivia: BUT WHAT IF WE'RE ARRESTED!?

Panel 1 Nate, Iris, and August are on their lunch break and discussing weekend plans. It's very important to mention that Nate is enjoying a grilled cheese sandwich that has grown cold. Iris has a questionable substance for her own lunch. She is filled with regrets at the moment. Nate: Y'all got weekend plans? I'm going to a concert. Iris: Wine tasting and a dinner party. Panel 2 August is smiling because he knows he has both the superior lunch and plans. He's eating a pepperoni pizza that's dripping with cheese. Truthfully, it's not the best pizza out there but pizza is still pizza and beats out many other lunches by default. Yes, I have put far too much thought into what everyone is having for lunch. August: I'll be playing video games and watching cartoons with my son. Panel 3 Nate and Iris stare intensely at August. In the background are two motivational posters made by someone who has a passion for graphic design. One depicts a bee and it says "BEE MOTIVATE". The other depicts a rabbit eating a mysterious substance coming from a tube that says "FOOD". The rabbit indicates that he is enjoying this by saying "YUM". The poster says "LUNCH HARD WORK HARDER. On the table is the container that Iris' meal came in. It says "MYSTERY MEAL - MEAT FLAVORED". Mystery Meal comes in multiple exciting flavors such as "VEGGIE, BEAN, PLANT, and LICORICE". Panel 4 Nate's eyes widen in jealousy. Nate: Lucky. Iris: No need to brag. August smiles. He has a lot to appreciate about life at the moment.

Along the wall are many bottles filled with juice because this is a family friendly inn. They're not making a lot of money. August: The innkeeper informs you that a room is ten gold coins. Panel 2 At the table, August is leading the game with Hannah, Olivia, Gustopher, and Liam playing. Liam is not on panel in this comic but he is definitely there and keeping a massive pile of notes on every little thing that happens. Hannah: Can I negotiate for a lower price? August: Roll for barter. Panel 3 Hannah rolls a 2. Liam is still not on panel but you can bet he's making a note of this. Hannah: I got a 2. Panel 4 Hannah's glasses flash as she slams her hooves on the table. She makes her next move. Hannah: NEGOTIATIONS HAVE FAILED! I swing my axe at the innkeep! Gustopher: Me too. August had expected this would happen. August: This is why I arm all NPCs. Olivia is shocked by this turn of events. She does not want to get arrested. Liam is still off panel is making a note of this.

Panel 1 Polly isn't able to sleep. As much as she enjoys being in bed and wide awake, she decides to get up and move around a little. She is wearing one a shirt that says "FoRK FiGHT". This is one item of many that she has purchased from her favorite band. Polly (Thinking): If sleep is so important, why is it so hard to get? Panel 2 Polly notices that the kitchen light is on. Who dares disturb Polly's lack of slumber? Polly (Thinking): Is someone up? Panel 3 Polly looks into the kitchen and sees her mom, Penelope, at the table. She's got a steaming cup of something in a mug labelled "COMFORT JUICE". She's crying. Polly (Thinking): Is Mom crying? I never see her cry? Panel 4 Polly begins to walk away and contemplate what she just saw. Polly (Thinking): I get so caught up in my problems. I forget Mom has them too.

Panel 1 Grace, Bolero, Ember, and Mothleby the toy moth are hanging out and trying to decide what to play. Grace has an idea. Grace: Want to play house? Bolero: Okay, I want to be the dad. Ember: NO! I'M THE DADDY! Panel 2 Grace looks down. It's never easy to assign roles when they play these games. Grace: I want to be the dad too. Ember: WE CAN'T ALL BE THE DADDY! Panel 3 Suddenly, Bolero is struck with inspiration. Why can't they all be the dad? Bolero: Why not? Ember: GOOD POINT! Panel 4 Peace is restored. Grace tightly hugs her toy moth, Mothleby, who has also decided that he would also like to be the dad. Grace: Our family is different but happy. Bolero: I'm gonna be sad about eggs. Ember: I'M GONNA YELL AT SPORTS! The four dads all begin to try to come up with the worst jokes imaginable to tell each other.

Forget everything I just said. Right after writing this I swapped out the tip and it feels right again.

Mine has felt a off for the past couple weeks and I haven't been able to figure out why. My lines seem to be coming out the same but I'm wondering if I've been having to apply more pressure to get the same result and I just hadn't noticed.

Panel 1 Liam is lying on the ground. A spider, ants, butterfly, and bird are all doing various things around him. Panel 2 Gustopher approaches. He sees Liam lying on the ground. He wonders if he should ask Liam why he's on the ground. But then he comes up with a better idea. The spider, ants, butterfly, and bird are moving around. Panel 3 Liam and Gustopher are lying on the ground. The spider, ants, butterfly, and bird continue doing spider, ant, butterfly, and bird things. Peace. Panel 4 Hannah approaches and she is very confused about this whole ground situation. Hannah: What are you doing? Gustopher: Lying on the ground. Hannah: Why? Gustopher: I don't know. Liam: Me neither. The spider, ants, butterfly, and bird continue to exist.

And of course, it makes wonder what core societal beliefs might stay the same but be viewed differently in the next 50 years.

Anyway, wild tangent there. I just started typing what's been on my mind and it all started spilling out. Might as well put it out there into the world. As is tradition.

And now the ease of holding onto and accessing media from the past century means we're in a position to more easily compare current philosophies to those more common before we were born. We can things that used to be discussed flippantly can be viewed with more reverence today.

50 years is a surprisingly short amount of time overall. But it's enough time for a person to have lived a life with a concept that's new. Enough time for a tradition to feel like an essential part of life. I sometimes wonder if how that's impacted how we view things like marriage.

I've had this recent fascination with tradition and the fact that so many traditions I come across are actually pretty new. Like how something will be done a certain way for 50 years and people will say "That's how it's always been done." As if it has been that way since the beginning of time.

Panel 1 Olivia and Polly are attempting to watch TV together but they're mostly arguing over the remote. Polly wants to watch anime and Olivia wants to watch anything but anime. Olivia: I don't want to watch your boring cartoons! Polly: It's called anime and- Mom is coming! Panel 2 The sisters instantly begin to act like perfect angels. They do not wish to burden their mother with their arguments. Penelope: Girls, I have to run to the store. Please be good. Olivia: Yes, Mama. Polly: Okay. She's probably off to get delicious treats for good daughters who don't destroy the living room in an hour long battle for control of the TV. Panel 3 Olivia and Polly wait patiently for their mother to leave. They are ready to act as soon as she is gonr. They watch the door carefully and hear it softly close. Panel 4 Olivia leaps into the air in an abrupt attempt to snatch away the remote. Polly takes a defensive position. Neither are willing to admit this, but this struggle is more fun than watching TV. Olivia: GIVE ME THE REMOTE! Polly: NEVER!

Battle for Control - Gator Days

Panel 1 The first day of day camp is over and the camp staff are taking time to unwind and relax. About a third of them are are broken. Dan is drinking a refreshing Diet Green Soda and is sitting with his friend who is drinking Brown Carbonated Liquid, the inferior store brand version of Brown Soda. A tired Eva approaches them. Dan: Eva! How was your first day working Day Camp? Eva: Horrible. Panel 2 Eva is visibly exhausted and is in dire need of coffee. Another camper approaches her from behind. Eva: The kids don't listen. Half of them stink. I'm dreading tomorrow. Grace: Excuse me. Panel 3 Grace is behind Eva holding her toy moth. She has something important to say. Grace: I... Uh... I... I... I HAD A GREAT TIME! I can't wait for tomorrow. Panel 4 Eva is filled with appreciation for the little camper. Grace was one of the quietest kids and know that she had a good time changes everything. Eva: I can't wait too. Grace: Thank you! Bye bye! Eva: Bye.

Day Camp (Part 3) - Gator Days

I do this too and it drains my social battery rapidly. It's always a blessing to have one person around who knows me well and can tell when I need to step back. Meeting more people who do the same has actually been a relief because I had felt like I was the only one.
