N-ABLES Dr Emily Bennett and Dr Gemma Costello highlighted the types and prevalence of #ABI, emphasising three main challenges:

1. Insufficient data
2. Lack of training for teachers and SENCOs
3. Timely provision for acquired needs in schools

The All-Party Parliamentary Group for Acquired Brain injury are holding a roundtable in Parliament from 1.30-3.30 on Wednesday 25th June 2025 to discuss the issues and steps to improvement.

Our education system overlooks, underserves and misunderstands 40,000 children and young people with acquired brain injuries each year. This group is over-represented in absenteeism, categories such as social, emotional and mental health (SEMH).
