I’m going to write about Baltimore appearing in DC Comics as the hometown of Guy Gardener (Green Lantern) and Black Manta. Has anyone wrote about that yet!? We literally had a comic character from our city appear on the big screen in a Superman film!

Agreed. I don’t think it gets this way without the windfall of issues that came post-2019. We’ve become unrecognizable. It can change for the better though, I’m hopeful.

I do have a lot of faith in the kids. They’ve got so much to offer, they just need guidance. That’s on us and I think a lot of people are up for the challenge.

It’s so odd because the flip seemed to happen post-COVID. And I think many people have been lost in the fray of having too much alone time. Too much of not having to deal with what they deem to be “annoyances”. Phones supplanting real life (as I type this out on my phone).

We’ve allowed our wants to supersede those of everyone else around us. It’s been like that internally for a long time, but the social contract seems to have been blown to bits and thrown into the wind.

We live in a contradictory society. One with doublespeak and inconsistencies that should easily be broken down if people paid attention in high school English. Especially, pertaining to lessons that dealt with rhetorical analysis. Here we are — lost. Anti-people. Anti-discussion. Me. Me. Me.

Just saw a post on The Other Site™ about how people now complain a ton when the cashiers talk to them. They don’t want small talk, but then the same people don’t want silence. But they don’t want cashiers replaced by machines, but they want more self-checkout that they don’t know how to use.

It all starts with giving back to our communities. How are we going to show stewardship to our neighbors? Picking up trash, donating to shelters, offering any type of assistance — anything counts. We’ve got to volunteer and give to others. That’s what it means to be a good neighbor.

It may be a little (or a lot) of naïveté on my end, but I feel like we have so much to offer to everyone as a collective. Hope isn’t lost. We will be better. And a bright, shining, and ultimately, loving future is within reach.

Went to Mass today and this baby boy sitting with his parents and two siblings had so much joy. I felt some hope for the future. Not everything has to be bad or sorrowful, we can help others to assist in making this world a better place for all. Especially the innocent.
