Nice one. It’s amazing how well you can build relationships with students even while doing casual work. Bit of time and consistency goes a long way.

Flexibility / work / life balance?
No permanent roles available?
Opportunity for more broad experience?

About to jump into casual teacher life.
It’s been 15 years since I left casual teaching for a permanent role. Also had a year off with family and starting a business.

For my fellow casual teachers, what are your reasons for doing it?

We’re building support for multiple LLMs in our app. Google AI Studio has helped refine Gemini prompts with strong conversation memory at a low cost.

But aligning quality across LLMs is a tough balancing act!

What has more value - transparency & choice or quick results?

That’s great. So teachers have enterprise, SSO access to a curated collection of quality assured, practical tools for free?

Have you done a review to see if teachers are still paying for their own tools?

That sounds logical.

But I find so many teachers needing to pay for tools to help them prepare for class. Digital resource packs, planning tools, online games…

Is this poor planning by schools/systems, lack of funding, something else πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

There's so many AI tools for teachers popping up, but the cost debate feels silent.

Teachers looking for ways to maximise their impact often ask 'What's a good free tool for...' but, like physical resources, quality tech tools cost money.

So, who pays? Teachers? Schools? Systems?

I reckon I’ll be in for a few surprises. Looking forward to learning through some new challenges.

Heading back to school!

This time as a casual teacher.

I taught for almost 10 years, then spent 6 years working with teachers and leadership teams... now I'm ready to jump back into the classroom (1 day a time 😝)

What's changed? What's the same? Am I nuts?

So where are all the experienced teachers who are heading back to do some casual teaching after a significant hiatus?

What am I in for? 😝
