That pursuit is the EXACT REASON a great season can end with an illegal restart that screws many drivers and teams to give the WDC to a one team in an "exciting" finish.

Once the FIA analyzed and report the restart was illegal but due to human error and not malice or corruption, the stewards' denial of the Mercedes appeal was also wrong. The case *should* have gone to the ICA for review.

You need to find and read the ICA decision on a subsequent race with a 'broken by the race director' restart. (Case ICA 2023-03). The ICA explicitly rules out any 'overriding authority' of the race director to alter the written regulations. The decision was released one week after Lewis announced
