Patina and polish today, maybe some stone setting between making sourdough. This weekend was for rest. My work trip was rough on top of all the horrors (gesticulates vaguely). So, I’m all about making joy when I can, I’m baking bread (I have no experience in this) and getting this pendant done

I hoped to get more progress done with this pendant. But yesterday was a doozy hosting 15 teenagers for my kid’s summer party, and today was for recovering. This week will be intense at work, so I won’t finish until next weekend. But that’s all right, it gives me something to look forward to.

My studio is calling to me today. I gave it some tlc, finally cleaned up, vacuumed, got rid of some stuff. I knew I wanted to make something, and somehow landed on this garnet and silver bone—it’s calling to be an amulet. Let’s see how far I get, it’s been a while.

I switched to the fur for a bit. It was uncomfortable. My mantra is—what do I really see. Our brains are quick to assume, eager to fill in the blanks. Painting is forcing that to slow down. Reminding my brain that I don’t want it to work right now, I want my senses to do it.

Oil painting is training me to let go and trust the process. It’s will work out eventually, but the in-between can be very messy, kinda ugly, and full of doubt. Last night, I stepped back and started to see things to adjust and things started to fall into place.
