A magnitude 4.0 earthquake occurred 25 km east of Ashburton, New Zealand on Fri Nov 21 2025 7:50 PM. The quake was 24 kilometres deep and the shaking was light close to the quake. The quake may have been felt in Akaroa, Ashburton, Christchurch, Geraldine, Methven, Oxford, Timaru, and surrounding localities.
