Here are two of them in Finnish editions, these are the only ones I got as a child.
Lippu on kyllä aika surkea tekele.
CYclists dismount-TTAAH
That is true and I've considered it - still would like to have a paper magazine to leaf through, but maybe I'll cave in to digital.
Used to subscribe for many years before the Brexit bullshit. Is there any sensible way to subscribe to EU country? As I understand, at least where I live, I should declare every incoming issue to customs separately, pay VAT and pay for the post to deliver the issue to me within the country.
Kiintoisan arvion perusteella heräsi assosiaatio Alan Clarken tv-elokuvaan Contact (1985), jossa brittisotilaat partioivat Pohjois-Irlannin rajalla. Varsinaisia tapahtumia on siinä hyvin vähän, mikä vain korostaa hiljaisessa maisemassa mahdollisesti piilevää uhkaa, joka jäytää sotilaita.
Can't come soon enough.
I think my Black Porridge does not really cut it.
Necessary reading. I've been going through the Alan Clarke at the BBC bluray box and Penda's Fen really stands out stylistically.
The Human League was my first musical love as a kid and I adore the Cocteaus, so maybe there is some obscure connection to rural industrial.
Toisaalta laajoille kansanjoukoille ei tuota ongelmia lentää ihan vapaaehtoisesti lomalle monen aikavyöhykkeen yli esim. Thaimaahan.
My favourite album when I was ten years old. Can still play the whole thing in my head. Synth pop perfection.
Been going through the catalogue of the Finnish noise label Satatuhatta in celebration of their 100th release, which is a 4CD compilation of the "rural industrial" project The Day of the Antler.
These I was actually listening at the time. There might be some even better ones I discovered only later.
Stories are a bit conflicting but majority uphold the Britt-less ass stance.
Brit TV childhood traumas in Finland: Triffids, Sapphire and Steel, and Threads. Movie bonus: The Wickerman.
There's A Ghost In My House - R. Dean Taylor (later versions include one by The Fall)
Get Out of My House - Kate Bush
A little wordplay: A Louse is Not a Home - Peter Hammill
I'm mostly going to post about noise and experimental releases. Here's a cassette by Finnish "rural industrial" unit Metsäkirkko from 2024, released by Brownhill Mafia.
I was so disappointed that I couldn't attend, as I had some lingering cough after being sick with flu. Feldman & coughing audience is absolute no-no. Luckily a friend could go with my ticket.
So DEI replaced with SIC.
Both are my eternal faves!
Insane amount of listening, from shimmering drones to pummeling chaos. Best bargain indeed!
1) Twin Peaks
2) Sapphire & Steel (ITV '79-82)
3) Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (BBC '79)
4) Severance
5) Miami Vice (for the aesthetics)
