The books are Statues in the Garden by Isabel Colegate, Seichō Matsumoto’s Tokyo Express (translated by Jesse Kirkwood), the audiobook on the iPhone screen is Mater 2-10 by Hwang Sok-yong, translated by Sora Kim-Russell and Youngjae Josephine Bae. And on the Kindle screen is the cover of Any Person is the Only Self by Elisa Gabbert.

I’ve carved out some time this chilly morning to lounge & just read this weekend. The Colegate is for the Author Spotlight Series I host, Mater 2-10 for book club, Tokyo Express is to hold onto some joy after returning from our 1st trip. And the Gabbart because reading about literature is joyous.

It is remarkable. I should be working. I couldn't resist reading it, even as I am still at the beginning of the series, at book eight (A Love Story). Thank you for all the rich insights. Now I think I will have to plan on a reread in the other order in 20 years.

I also adored The Shooting Party and look forward to reading this and other of her novels later this year.

You can also go into your past orders and find the option. It’s a great mindless exercise to do while watching TV, on a boring conference call, while waiting in line…😉

All public libraries should stay open until midnight. Only a monster would think that nobody needs more books after 5 PM on a Friday.
