I never do either. It’s a total bop as the kids say and I could listen to it for hours on end.

One of my favorite interviews ever was speaking to Philippe Mora for this because he had STORIES. It was glorious and he knew this movie was a mess, no thanks to the studio.

Arnold Schwarzenegger, Christopher McQuarrie Teaming for New β€˜Conan the Barbarian’ Movie 20th Century Studios has attached the filmmaker to write and direct 'King Conan,' reviving the character that was an early signature role for Schwarzenegger.

I was just lamenting a few days ago about how I would never, ever see this, and how bummed I was about that. The old Millius KING CONAN script was pretty much a must read for all of us at Ain't it Cool 25 years ago and I'm DYING to see what McQuarrie does.

Hand-Held Hell: The Outbreak of Homemade Horror β€” Terror Vision Records and Video Second Printing (2026) LTD to 300 units. There was a sense of wonder and occasional disbelief when scouring the horror section of independent video stores during their heyday, coming across a vampire...

Well, since this post is getting some traction, here's the book in question: www.terror-vision.com/store/p/hand...

Few voices in the culture and media landscape are irreplaceable. MZS is irreplaceable. Not just a clever, cutting, and insightful critic, but a champion of other writers and artists in so many ways big and small.

Do yourself a favor: buy from his bookstore. Buy a lot. Read, read, read: mzs.press

Mr. Seitz was engaging, patient and lovely with my friend, something that we are not always. I have always bought his books and bought from his store, after that. You should, too.

I saw Mr. Seitz in San Antonio years ago at a screening of Rushmore. He had his Wes Anderson book out. My friend Gabe was with me, who can ramble infinitely about Wes. He did just that with Matt for some time after the show. 1/2

A huge thank you to everyone who shared this today. I gained a few new free subscribers and I'm so freaking thankful to anyone who is kind enough to want to read my work.

Thank you a million times over, y'all. πŸ–€

Wonderful obit for legendary comics colorist Tatjana Wood in NYT.

Here she is holding her Eisner Hall of Fame Award in 2023. This photo makes me SO happy. Just look at that smile! Even at age 96, she knew what that honor meant.

Here's a lovely photo of my fabric art spirits. There are six of them. The one on the far left is a white spirit with a gray face, seven black eyes, and a grinning mouth full of five sharp teeth. She has two twirly white wisps coming out of her head. She's sitting on a small pink chair. Next is a black spirit with a gray face, large round golden eyes, and purple lips. She's covered with embroidered purple flowers. She has two black twirly wisps coming out of her head. Next is a green spirit with a red face, large twinkly yellow eyes, and an open mouth with two sharp teeth. He has two green antennas with red veins. He's covered with embroidered red flowers. Next is a pair of ghosts. One is white with a gray face, twinkly black, and an open mouth full of teeth. She's covered with pink flowers and yellow markings. She has two twirly white wisps. Standing on her head is a tiny white ghost with a gray face, pink flower eyes, and a little frown. She has two little arms. Next to them is a black spirit sitting on a chair with a gray face, twinkly red eyes, and a little frown. He's covered with white, yellow and purple stars of various sizes. He has two black wisps embroidered with a line of white stars. There's green fur in the background of the spirits, and they're on a galaxy print fabric.

Meet my newest creations: the Gloom-Wilders. I designed and hand-sewed them, and I hand-embroidered all their flowers, stars, and markings. They're a family of spirits who live in a haunted woodland (haunted because they live there).

Oh, thank you - I was happy to get out of there last year! Unfortunately, my "dead" site on there still gets more followers each week than my active Ghost site does, but I do not regret making the switch, especially with how things are over there. It was just not worth it. πŸ–€

Both free & paid subscriptions are great, but paid subs do help out with keeping me able to see movies, getting our dogs their prescriptions & lately, just groceries in the house, too.

Things at my day job are really wonky, so this site is my escape & I do appreciate all the support. πŸ–€

From the Desk of The Horror Chick Heather Wixson explores horror, film, and pop culture, all while celebrating the creators, history, and artistry that keep the genre alive.

Hey y'all - it's #InternationalWomensDay, so I thought I'd just take a moment to promote my site as I'm really proud of the work that I've been doing there. I've been falling in love with writing again & I'd be grateful if you checked it out: from-the-desk-of-the-horror-chick.ghost.io

I want to use a brief moment of International Women's Day to shout-out the likes of Doris Wishman, Roberta Findlay, Jackie Kong, Stephanie Rothman, and Eloyce Gist...filmmakers of the underground, drive-in, and grindhouse eras whose work blazed an amazing, potent, transgressive trail.
