The truth-telling work of the Yoorook Justice Commission laid the path for treaty legislation in Victoria. If the Albanese government is serious about First Nations justice, it needs to start walking that path.

We need to recommit the funding, staff a dedicated team (not halfΒ FTE), and publish a clear timeline to establish a Makarrata truth & justice commission. When will the Government stop treating truth-telling as optional?

The Albanese Government has gone from supporting the Uluru Statement from the Heart in full, to funding just half of one person to track what States and Territories are doing to support truth telling.Β Truth-telling is core to First Nations justice.

Outrageous to learn in #estimates that most of the federal $5.8 mil allocated to truth-telling wasn’t spent, and was then cancelled, and now NIAA are not working on truth or treaties, and have just half an FTE to monitor work by states and territories.

DFAT has now confirmed Australians and others have been abused by Israeli authorities after their abduction from the flotilla.

Assaulted and injured. Deprived of sleep and medication. Still illegally detained.

The PM and Foreign Minister must urgently demand their safe release.

"if you lose hope, you become apathetic"

We must press forward with the hope Jane inspired in all of us, and in doing so we will continue to honour her life's work - today and every day.

Rest in power, and in nature, Jane Goodall.

I am so sad to hear of Jane Goodall’s passing, she was an absolute icon.

Few have done more for conservation & enviro protection than she did during her life.

Above all, she taught us that we must have hope. "Hope is what enables us to keep going in the face of adversity"

If Labor wanted housing to be accessible they’d listen to the Greens: scrap the capital gains tax discount and negative gearing that rig the market for wealthy property investors.

01.10.2025 04:11 β€” πŸ‘ 28    πŸ” 10    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

If Labor’s goal is to make housing even more out of reach for everyday Australians, they’re on track to succeed.

Increasing housing demand without building affordable homes just means more expensive homes.

01.10.2025 04:11 β€” πŸ‘ 28    πŸ” 7    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 2

Labor’s guarantee scheme is a boon for the banks, who will profit from first-home buyers’ financial hardship from taking out 95% loans when prices are eight times the average household income.

01.10.2025 04:11 β€” πŸ‘ 12    πŸ” 2    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

You can’t keep driving up supply without tackling demand β€” stop giving wealthy property investors massive cheques to outbid first homebuyers at auctions every weekend.

01.10.2025 04:11 β€” πŸ‘ 10    πŸ” 4    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

It shouldn’t be easier to buy your 25th property than your first home, but Labor’s billions in tax handouts to investors have created that reality.

Today’s policy change pours more heat into an already overheated system without any pressure release on demand.

01.10.2025 04:11 β€” πŸ‘ 9    πŸ” 2    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Labor’s deposit scheme will turbocharge the housing crisis, drive prices up and lock out first-home buyers or plunge them into debt.

Their cowardly refusal to fix tax settings that turn housing into speculation instead of a human right is smashing first-home buyers & renters.

The Greens choose people and the planet over fossil fuel profits.

Now, Labor must choose: are they safeguarding our future, or the profits of coal and gas corporations?

29.09.2025 03:48 β€” πŸ‘ 23    πŸ” 3    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Meanwhile, Labor has issued 30+ coal & gas approvals β€” including the extension of the North West Shelf carbon bomb that wrecks Murujuga.

The time for climate justice is now. Labor must stop sacrificing lives and livelihoods for the profits of their coal and gas corporate donors.

From 1965 to 1994 in Tennant Creek, there were an average of 130 days per year above 35C.

That average rose to 142 days over the following three decades, and data also shows the days are taking longer to cool down.

The ACOSS Heat In Homes Survey found most First Nations people in social housing struggled to cool their homes, and were twice as likely as non-First Nations tenants to require medical attention for heat stress.

The National Climate Risk Assessment tells us climate crisis devastation will hit vulnerable communities the hardest.

It is an indictment on Labor to have chosen a weak, unambitious and deadly climate target while First Nations people in this country already bear the brunt of extreme heat.

Labor knows their 62% target will lock in >2Β°C warming and heat will continue to kill and displace people.

Labor's climate betrayal | The Australian Greens

While it’s incredibly disappointing, it’s not too late.

The reason Labor has announced such weak targets is because they think they can get away with it. They hope no one will hold them to account.

It’s up to all of us to keep the pressure on: greens.org.au/2035

18.09.2025 03:12 β€” πŸ‘ 27    πŸ” 9    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

People voted for climate action, and Labor is squandering the opportunity to make that happen.

This could be the parliament where we take ambitious action – we have the numbers.

We say again to the government: don’t make climate delay your legacy, have some ambition.

18.09.2025 03:12 β€” πŸ‘ 24    πŸ” 7    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Of course the target is shit. Coal and gas are the main source of Australia's pollution, but the government is intentionally avoiding phasing them out.

In fact, they are approving more.

Every approval puts our future at risk.

18.09.2025 03:12 β€” πŸ‘ 12    πŸ” 4    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

While coal & gas corps profit, everyday people pay the price.

This target sets us up for a future of:
>More than 1.5 million people at risk of sea level rise by 2050
>Rolling disastrous weather events
>50Β° days in capital cities
>Higher insurance, grocery bills, mass extinction

18.09.2025 03:12 β€” πŸ‘ 11    πŸ” 2    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

This is the target you get when you refuse to end coal and gas exports and native forest logging. This is not ambition.

It’s a win for fossil fuel giants and a devastating loss for people and the planet.

Labor has given up on the science and caved to their coal & gas donors.

18.09.2025 03:12 β€” πŸ‘ 15    πŸ” 4    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Coal and gas corporations will love Labor’s utter failure of a climate target.

18.09.2025 03:12 β€” πŸ‘ 87    πŸ” 21    πŸ’¬ 5    πŸ“Œ 2

UPDATE: also unclear if the Treasurer was briefed by the scientists on the climate risk report.

Maybe it's easier to keep signing off on coal and gas projects when you bury your head in the sand.

If we see a weak climate target announced by Labor this week - this is why.

16.09.2025 00:48 β€” πŸ‘ 49    πŸ” 20    πŸ’¬ 3    πŸ“Œ 1

Anything less than net zero by 2035 means the worst predictions of this report will become a reality.

Time for the PM to wake up.

Set a science-based climate target for a safe climate future.

16.09.2025 00:47 β€” πŸ‘ 40    πŸ” 9    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

1.5m Australians with constantly flooded homes on Labor’s current policies. Nothing could be more important to our future.

But the PM has been out to lunch, despite the fact that he signs off on Australia's climate target this week.

#breaking The PM was not briefed directly on the climate risk report despite being about to set Australia’s 2035 targets.

He didn’t ask for a briefing from the scientists.

16.09.2025 00:47 β€” πŸ‘ 74    πŸ” 33    πŸ’¬ 5    πŸ“Œ 4

If Labor fails to set a science-based climate target then it’s crystal clear: they have utterly prioritised coal and gas profits at the expense of community safety and nature.
