The creators of those shows were often astonished by how much they'd managed to put the audience in their characters' corner. Walter White poisons a child, and people were still ride or die.

Nearly all of prestige TV's antiheroes rely on this cognitive bias.

Those shows are often intensely focused on that character's biased POV, which creates understanding, which breeds empathy...for some genuinely heinous dudes.

Fair. I think if you grew up with the show it might have mnore pull. But I have to imagine most of those people also outgrew this show. I was 22 and my brothers were 17 and 11 when it came out. I don't think either if them is very excited about season 5. They're both to busy playing Persona games.
