There are a lot of career professionals at NIH and CDC and DOJ (and even ICE and CBP and the FBI) whose decision making has been profoundly affected for the worse (from my perspective) by the changes at the top in the last year. I don’t see why the same would not be true for the military.

i think the US military, under current leadership, cares as much about the lives of Iranian schoolchildren as the Israeli military cares about the lives of Gazan schoolchildren (and doctors, and journalist, etc.).
But he is sending the message that the people who do those jobs shouldn’t be restrained by “stupid” rules of engagement.
