Game reviews from the early 2000s were something and it’s unfortunate things haven’t changed by much.

I unfortunately remembered that Adam Sessler exists. For any and all anti-Asian sentiment he and guys like him make, he has to pay me.

I think the term "JRPG" is rooted in that kind of anti-Japanese sentiment and it kinda sucks that we're stuck with it. Like me as a zoomer I don't get the term at all, half the games in the genre in my time have been from western devs pining for (S)NES/PSX nostalgia.

Expedition 33 will win GOTY, the devs will make a speech about how they love and were inspired by JRPGs and how people should give those games a chance and the next day the press will be like "Expedition 33 wins GOTY and proves the west has STOMPED JAPAN IN THEIR OWN GENRE"
