Did Mars harbour life? One of the strongest signs yet is spotted in a peculiar rock The intriguing chemistry of a rock collected by the Perseverance rover could trace to microbial activity β€” or not.

Last year NASA issued a press release on an astrobiologically interesting rock found by Perseverance. I was on leave and didn't cover it.

Today the scientists talked at #LPSC2025.

No, it's almost certainly not life on #Mars. But it is pretty darn interesting. πŸ§ͺ

Hi I am a planetary geoscientist who studies meteorites for what they tell us about the history of our Solar System and to establish best methods for curation and preservation of meteorites and returned samples. Please add me as a contributor.

Meteorites (and meteowrongs) There are 4 easy tests you can conduct to identify a meteorite and differentiate it from a plain Earth rock, including checking the weight and its magnetism. Visit our page for more information.

This link provides info on one part of my job: fielding inquiries from members of the public about #meteorites and classifying new meteorites,
