The original version is kind of similar in format to THE HOUSE ON MANGO STREET by Sandra Cisneros, in that it's a bunch of slices-of-life with an overarching plotline, or even an episodic novel type of thing.

So the original version (aka the one I'm almost done writing) of HELIOTROPE & HELLFIRE is a series of short stories spanning twenty years. It begins when Jasper is 9 years old and goes through a lot of major points in his life.

The alternate version is only a couple months.

Today is the centenary of Edward Gorey’s birth and I feel the best way to celebrate is with a fussy little ink drawing of the time he looked the coolest anyone ever has in human history
