The staffing cuts are significant; we also *always* must mention the failure to act against the CLIMATE CRISIS & curb the bonanza for fossil fuel companies in the same breath. Both are examples of subsidizing billionaires, denying science and reality, and acting deeply against the public interest.

Very much agree. The people of Texas also deserve leadership that acts to stop the climate crisis, at the root of the severity and speed of the rainfall. We need an honest conversation about the role of fossil fuels and the need to phase them out rapidly. Denial won't solve these terrible tragedies.
