Enjoying City of the Wolves on the Sega Lindbergh arcade cabinet. The gameplay’s great! It got a nice mix of classic and modernized mechanics. Really enjoying it. Can’t wait for this one to fully release.

More things done on the hobby to-do list: Retrobright my SNES Bomberman Multitap (aka Super Multitap 2). This cute little guy’s top piece got yellowed quite a bit. After a couple 3 hour sessions of retrobright solution and Cali sunshine, it brightened up nicely! What an adorable device.👌

It’s also nicer to have the IREM logo when the game boots up. It didn’t sit right with me seeing the Jaleco logo on the snes release.

A local buddy helped me get a cheap R-type III cart for Super Famicon on his recent Japan trip. I’ve always wanted the SNES cart but it’s so expensive now and I never liked the label art. I decided to transplant the PCB inside to a US shell and print out a JPN art styled holo label. Came out dope!

Really great game, I’ve been enjoying it this month. Too bad the US cart label isn’t as nice as the Japanese one. They also removed the Irem intro and replaced it with Jaleco, because of the publishing deal that was made for the western release. That and the price of the US cart is ridiculous!

Normalizing broken releases by putting the responsibility onto the customer is akin to the service industry forcing customers to make up low wages through tips. We need a higher standard

I’ve been wanting to buy Cyberpunk for a while but didn’t want to pay more than $30, on principle for releasing a buggy unoptimized mess. As a dev since the late 90’s, the way the industry has shifted to “we’ll fix it after launch” is embarrassing. Customers should not let devs get away with that.

Playing more multiplayer games with the kids tonight. This time, “dad-bod” Spiderman on the Sega System 32! Not a great beat-em-up in terms of fight gameplay, but it’s got a cool zoom-in and out feature that makes use of the S32’s sprite scaling hardware.

Same here! It’s my daily driver for music, and it’s been so great to unplug from the internet and service while be able to run high quality FLAC files.

For more dual-cabinet multiplayer games, I’ve had to go on a crimping mission. Built myself a family of 3/4-Player-to-CPS2 adapters to be able to connect a bunch of different arcade boards for multiplayer support (I use the CPS2 Aux/kick harness for passing P3 & P4 controls to the second cab).

I’m always looking to make my Sega Naomi setups more compact. I love the system and the games, but the normal setup has so much gear. Here’s my Naomi motherboard w/ CF card reader for game loads, Sega IO-JNX Atlas-UVC Downscaler stack, & Dreamcast PSU for power. This is the smallest I can make it!
