Each year I purchase Christmas stockings and my friends and I fill them for kids at a community center. Compared to last year, the cost of the same stocking (made in Canada) at the same store is up 20 percent. Sharing as quantitative evidence that prices are rising.

When I was in school we learned every detail about how our state govt. functioned in a state history class. Excellent research training in high school
and of course college. However, the only detailed US government classes I got were in college.
I think we’d find that the lack of required civics and government courses, explosion of info sources, and resulting lack of journalistic rigor are problems. Mainstream media, has lost its courage, and many other “news” sources never took a journalism ethics or law class.
Interesting question. It would be possible to structure an experiment asking basic policy questions of people in different age groups right now. Could explore correlations between knowledge and age/politicalID/news source.
