I talk about moderating (banning) Holocaust denial on AskHistorians in all my courses to help students see why historical literacy matters in a real world context. Last semester, a student stuck around to office hours to share that he's seen denial points online

Fun fact: there was one (1) member of the mod team who once preferred using new rather than old Reddit, but even they have reluctantly embraced the old.reddit bandwagon with the coming of shreddit.

All jokes aside, DID people expect the Spanish Inquisition? Ummmbacon carefully details the historical context & how this popular Monty Python joke engages with the historical irony that the Spanish Inquisition was among the more anticipated institutional developments of its time!

This is specifically Dan's outreach push over the past 12 months - prior to his taking over this portfolio, we eagerly accepted people contacting us and sporadically reached out to people, but he has done an outstanding job of turning our haphazard inclinations into a well-oiled machine.

We would really, really like to highlight the scale of Dan's achievement here. We've always hosted some great AMAs, but Dan has been single-handedly responsible for a huge outreach campaign to authors and forging ongoing partnerships with scholarly presses.
