19.12.2025 06:36 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0That seems like a good strategy. Your music lists are always impressive! It really is the best medium. Take care of yourself xx
18.12.2025 22:34 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Right, off to bed. 6 o'clock alarm and all that. Going to try to make it to a gig tomorrow as well. Had to dip out of a lot of things this month cos of stuff. Thank goodness for twickets.
Ta for all the support tonight. Seems a lot of folks have experienced redundancy. Crappy isn't it? Nite all xx
Good to see some twitter refugees on here. Mostly through the listening parties. I dipped out a little over the summer as I felt this place had changed, and dabbled more on instagram as I follow loads of bands over there. I came back though. Glad I did. Lots of nice new people on here too.
18.12.2025 22:28 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0That's rough. It's no bed of roses for those left behind either. My husband left a previous job when it was like that, got out 2 weeks before redundancies announced. So he was ahead of the curve and luckily didn't have to compete with his old collegues. Hope it all works out ok where you are
18.12.2025 22:14 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0It's a top film.
18.12.2025 22:04 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0We will be reviewing our subscriptions next year,so better watch it over Christmas! Also need to take a break from buying vinyl...I have a problem ๐ค๐
18.12.2025 22:03 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0The last bit. Some folks can't help themselves. Especially on the socials
18.12.2025 22:00 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Thank you. It seems to have hit him particularly hard tonight. That was his last 5pm finish. Half day tmrw as those still in a job have a night out. I can't imagine it will be a barrel of laughs. Everyone feeling it. I hate that he's going through this. I'm biased but he's pretty great.
18.12.2025 21:58 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I have the video (yeah, I know, no way to play it but still got it) and I think the tape may be a little worn at that point...๐ถ
18.12.2025 21:54 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Thank you. We will be okay, we have been through a lot over the years. How are you doing? It's been a very difficult time for you of late. I hope you are doing okay โค๏ธ
18.12.2025 21:52 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I loved the film but it felt different from the book. Jack Black and all the record store folks were incredible. Due another watch
18.12.2025 21:37 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I say that one A LOT! And "tell me about the dead people, I want to know about the dead people". And that bit with under pressure, when he stares at the baby. What. A. Moment
18.12.2025 21:36 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Anything with John Cusack really. I must watch the Sure thing again, has been DECADES! Teenage me enjoyed it, can't remember tbh and wonder if it has stood the test of time. Rob Reiner was such a great human, so sad for losing him and his wife. Rest in Peace.
18.12.2025 20:50 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Wow, thanks! I won't ask him tonight and I think we need to just take a wee break over Christmas (we had botg scheduled time off until 5th Jan) but I may get back to you in the New Year. He is in IT and may already have sorted that with someone from his industry, but that is so kind of you. ๐๐
18.12.2025 20:47 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Such a great film. In my top 5.
18.12.2025 20:43 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0Thanks pal. We will be fine but having trouble getting our heads around it. This place has been very kind tonight. We are a bit out of town so our support networks are not close by, but I found a nice group here after twitter imploded and I am so grateful for that. Have a nice Christmas x
18.12.2025 20:42 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0He's had a lot of nice messages. He is good at his job and liked.
18.12.2025 20:29 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Currently watching Leonard and Hungry Paul to get a bit of chill in our evening. It really is wonderfully relaxing to watch. This week we have watched so much to distract ourselves. Princess Bride, Edward Scissorhands, Home Alone 2, & more. Never sat in front of the telly as much. Enjoyed it tbh
18.12.2025 20:28 โ ๐ 5 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Thank you for your kind words. Blimey, the workplace can be brutal, eh? Well done for picking yourself up and carrying on. It's not a huge package, but will keep us going until spring and if we stay positive something will come our way before then! Have a lovely Christmas xx
18.12.2025 20:24 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0makeagif.com/i/mbcPwY
I can hear him upstairs now, taking down the office. Hopefully no flammables involved!
Great to hear! Enjoy the winding down and making-of-plans bit. I will look forward to when that comes around for us. All the best x
18.12.2025 19:56 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0It's top of the sucky things just now, and that's a big pile. We will be okay, I hope. Just a bit scary. Just need to come out of this not bitter. Feels like a stretch at the moment though. Thanks for your support x
18.12.2025 19:53 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Oh yeah, mid fifties and still expected to work for years. I watched the Armando Iannucci sketch from years ago about the home for men over 40...a bit late for that now! They will probably recruit a graduate in a few months and they will be brilliant, and cheap. Good luck to them
18.12.2025 19:51 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Thanks. It's happened to him once before too and it worked out so much better. So we are taking some positives. He is about 25 years older now though...The package is the bare minimum, so we will be alright for a few months anyway...I hope things worked out for you too xx
18.12.2025 19:49 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0He sent off a CV to a job that matched his skills perfectly and didn't even get considered for interview. It's really tough out there. Anyway, I hope you forgive my self-pity, I will snap out of it and power on through. There's new opportunities out there. Just trying to make sense of it all...xx
18.12.2025 19:27 โ ๐ 6 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 5 ๐ 0We just formatted a letter to say goodbye to his collegues. He's had some really nice chats with his team and has been given a lot of support. A few other that were made redundant are older and have health issues so I really worry for them. Some younger ones have already got new jobs.
18.12.2025 19:24 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0We are both healthy so in the grand scheme we will be alright. a bit too young to retire, but we thought we were close. 5 more years with current salary and pension contributions would have got us over the line. Now we have to eat into our savings to pay the mortgage. So we'll have to wait...
18.12.2025 19:22 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0We will be positive and move forward, but today this is still a bit raw. He was told he would have until the end of March. So we thought we could kick it into the long grass until after Christmas. To have to deal with this now is just crazy. Happy holidays ๐ฌ๐ฌ
18.12.2025 19:19 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Redundancy 5 days before Christmas is just perfect. Not me, my husband. 16 years of hard work. Found out 2 weeks ago, then found out last Friday afternoon (by email) that he would get PILON and this would be his last week. Everyone has their own shit to deal with, but we are kind of in shock here๐๐ฌ
