Good to see some twitter refugees on here. Mostly through the listening parties. I dipped out a little over the summer as I felt this place had changed, and dabbled more on instagram as I follow loads of bands over there. I came back though. Glad I did. Lots of nice new people on here too.

That's rough. It's no bed of roses for those left behind either. My husband left a previous job when it was like that, got out 2 weeks before redundancies announced. So he was ahead of the curve and luckily didn't have to compete with his old collegues. Hope it all works out ok where you are

Thank you. It seems to have hit him particularly hard tonight. That was his last 5pm finish. Half day tmrw as those still in a job have a night out. I can't imagine it will be a barrel of laughs. Everyone feeling it. I hate that he's going through this. I'm biased but he's pretty great.

Anything with John Cusack really. I must watch the Sure thing again, has been DECADES! Teenage me enjoyed it, can't remember tbh and wonder if it has stood the test of time. Rob Reiner was such a great human, so sad for losing him and his wife. Rest in Peace.

Currently watching Leonard and Hungry Paul to get a bit of chill in our evening. It really is wonderfully relaxing to watch. This week we have watched so much to distract ourselves. Princess Bride, Edward Scissorhands, Home Alone 2, & more. Never sat in front of the telly as much. Enjoyed it tbh

Oh yeah, mid fifties and still expected to work for years. I watched the Armando Iannucci sketch from years ago about the home for men over 40...a bit late for that now! They will probably recruit a graduate in a few months and they will be brilliant, and cheap. Good luck to them

Thanks. It's happened to him once before too and it worked out so much better. So we are taking some positives. He is about 25 years older now though...The package is the bare minimum, so we will be alright for a few months anyway...I hope things worked out for you too xx

He sent off a CV to a job that matched his skills perfectly and didn't even get considered for interview. It's really tough out there. Anyway, I hope you forgive my self-pity, I will snap out of it and power on through. There's new opportunities out there. Just trying to make sense of it all...xx

We just formatted a letter to say goodbye to his collegues. He's had some really nice chats with his team and has been given a lot of support. A few other that were made redundant are older and have health issues so I really worry for them. Some younger ones have already got new jobs.

We are both healthy so in the grand scheme we will be alright. a bit too young to retire, but we thought we were close. 5 more years with current salary and pension contributions would have got us over the line. Now we have to eat into our savings to pay the mortgage. So we'll have to wait...

We will be positive and move forward, but today this is still a bit raw. He was told he would have until the end of March. So we thought we could kick it into the long grass until after Christmas. To have to deal with this now is just crazy. Happy holidays 😬😬

Redundancy 5 days before Christmas is just perfect. Not me, my husband. 16 years of hard work. Found out 2 weeks ago, then found out last Friday afternoon (by email) that he would get PILON and this would be his last week. Everyone has their own shit to deal with, but we are kind of in shock here🎄😬
