I want a good way to adress that I hear the problem, it’s definitely significant, but not overwhelming and that they can handle it. I wann be able to give a perspective while not hijacking their issues and ignorantly giving a “solution” to a complex and emotional situation.

I wish I was a better listener. I don’t have a good way to let people know I hear them. I’m too scared of either downplaying/upscale their pain or giving unwanted advice. There’s such a thin balance of being there for someone and not trying to provide a solution while being supportive.
