Made it exactly 2:36 seconds into a sleep story read by Walton Goggins before I had to switch to sometime else because I couldn’t stop giggling while imagining him reading to me as Uncle Baby Billy.

One of the many resolutions I’m throwing at the wall to see if it sticks is picking up the house for 15 minutes when I get home.

It’s been really effective! But now it’s moved to the “do I throw this out or not?” phase which is significantly more work than just putting my shoes in the closet…

Missouri Republicans again push state control of St. Louis police department The legislation heard in Senate and House committees would place the St. Louis police department under a governor-appointed board.

New year, same push. Both the Missouri House and Senate heard legislation today that would place control of the STL Police under a gov-appointed board.

What’s new? Strong backing from Gov. Kehoe

the Trump administration started the efforts to require TikTok divestment, Congress passed it, Biden signed it, the Supreme Court approved it 9-0, TikTok refused to sell, and incredibly no one is responsible

A photo of the book Pachinko. It is in front of a vase full of Lego flowers and next to a light blue box with flowers on it.

Book Three of the year: Pachinko.

Utterly incredible. I cried a lot.

Amazing characters that were so relatable and lovable - book flew by despite the number of pages.

This may be the book that finally gets me into historical fiction. Deserves every nice thing said about it!

Book Two of the year: The Antique Hunter’s Guide to Murder.

Cozy fun mystery centered on the world of antiques. Characters a little one note but those notes were fun ones!

Very enjoyable - a page turner - not going to change my life but I wasn’t expecting it to!

A photo of the book My Year of Rest and Relaxation. It is in front of a vase full of Lego flowers and next to a light blue box with flowers on it.

OKAY — let’s do this.

Book One of the year: My Year of Rest and Relaxation.

Have never before had the experience of really enjoying a book and having the very last page just ruin all the goodwill I had towards it. Fucking wild. Could not believe that ending in a bad way!

Also - I *am* going to make my modest reading goal of 24 books this year damnit. Using StoryGraph as my tracker and am going to post here to hold myself accountable.

All of this snow and ice just puts me in hibernate mode. I can’t leave my house? Oh darn. Looks like I’m eating soup, baking bread and making a dent in my to-read pile.

Missouri legislature passes expansive K-12 education bill that includes raise for teachers The legislation passed the Missouri House by the bare minimum on Thursday. It now goes to the governor’s desk.

The Missouri legislature passed a huge education bill this year, and we're looking to talk with teachers about their thoughts about what's in it – including how it will personally affect their jobs.
