Minnesotaβs Gun Politics Mirror the Nationβs Divide
State legislators established a gun violence working group after a high-profile school shooting. A debate over a basic safety measure has left them at a standstill.

Gun Stores Are Struggling Under Trump
Dealers say the presidentβs gun-friendly policies have actually hurt their sales. βPeople have a tendency to want what they feel is under threat," one said.
Gun dealers talk to @champebarton.bsky.social about the drop in demand, what drives sales, and the state of the industry.
Some dealers are seeing folks who bought during the pandemic sales surge now seeking to sell their guns.

The Quiet Crisis: Whatβs Driving Gun Suicides Among Older Americans?
More and more older Americans are dying by firearm suicide, a new analysis from The Trace and GQ reveals. Older white men and those in rural areas experience alarmingly high rates.
Older Americans have the highest rates of gun suicide of any age group. Not by a little β by a lot.
Why? I spent months exploring this question through data, field reporting, and interviews with experts. Our story is up today on @thetrace.org

Trumpβs Fixation on Urban Crime Ignores Worsening Rural Violence, Experts Say
Public health researchers say the premise behind the presidentβs federal intervention in D.C. disregards key progress, and sidelines critical suicide prevention efforts.
Public health experts say framing gun violence solely as an βurbanβ issue ignores rising rates in rural communities, especially suicides, and risks sidelining proven solutions.
