The world is very different even if history can repeat, you cannot repeat things in a completely different time and expect the same outcomes. I see the strong parallels as well, but I would be cautious to simply predict too eagerly because the previous part of the graph fit so well atm

A worthy companion is Shirer’s β€œNightmare Years”

πŸ’―people really need to read this. Incredible first hand live view, day to day in Berlin.

This is an excellent read.

I've been promoting this for years now.

This is assuming that MAGA would READ...comprehend...and have an attention span that could finish this important novel. I'm taking odds they can't/won't. If there is an oddity, and one or two DO read it, they'll declare it FAKE and/or "just like Biden"...or some such nonsense. It's a sickness.

Essential companion read: "In the Garden of Beasts: Love, Terror, and an American Family in Hitler's Berlin," by Erik Larson.

Its an excellent book. Richard Evans three parter; The Third Reich is also a must read. It goes into huge detail about how the Nazis rose up from nothing and how they solidified their power through every element of German society.

Millions in America want this to happen. They want to be imperialist.

Words don't stop imperialists.

History is screaming at us to pay attention. Read and re-read this book last year. Sad thing is that all the institutions set up to prevent another WWII are now being casually tossed aside. Never forget? We've forgotten.

Those who can't see the parallels are complicit

06.01.2026 17:06 β€” πŸ‘ 10    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I have read it. The similarities between then and now are scary. It is like we are living in Germany of the mid to late 1930’s.

The current film "Nuremberg" explores Kelly's gathering of the interviews.

Yes, also an excellent book! Highly recommend.

The people who need to read this book either can’t read or will call it a lie like the Holocaust.

Especially the "rise" part in particular is very topical right now in the US.

I remember my dad reading this book. This and The Trials At Nuremberg. He was a decorated WWII and Korean War veteran. I guess I need to read it now.

06.01.2026 16:03 β€” πŸ‘ 15    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Should be made required reading in all schools.

06.01.2026 16:01 β€” πŸ‘ 11    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Tremendous book. The part I talk about most is how Shirer feelt the need to insert himself in the book, back when that was not done, becaues he left Germany on vacation and realized from the media there that everything the media in Germany had been telling people for years was a lie. Cf. Fox News.

06.01.2026 15:46 β€” πŸ‘ 36    πŸ” 2    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

re-read it two years ago to prepare for what's happening now.

chilling.

nauseating.

Literally came to the comments to recommend this exact book

06.01.2026 16:30 β€” πŸ‘ 25    πŸ” 2    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Agreed. Also "It Can't Happen Here" by Sinclair Lewis is remarkable in that it happened very much how he predicted. It's fiction, but ought to have been a warning.

Why? His admin caught and reported it to the Federal Government as they were supposed to.

That the federal government is on fucking goofballs is a separate issue.

Trump pardoned eight similar fraud-type of convicted felons. Three of them stole close to $2 billion. Philp Desformes, Lawrence Duran and Saloman Melgen. So Trump doesn’t care about the fraud in MN at all. He has the opportunity to be a racist bully in a blue state - all to appease his racist base.

The child care fraud is no doubt manufactured to retaliate against Tim Walz for opposing rump.
