Her tree planting and reforestation work holds a special place in my heart, and I’m grateful to have been part of it here in California.

She was a role model and a friend, and the wonder and humanity she embodied will never leave me.

Jane Goodall changed how we see the world. She carved paths for women in conservation, deepened our kinship with animals and one another, and built programs for research, education, and sanctuaries that will outlast us all.

We cannot allow this violence to become normalized, we need common-sense gun laws to protect our communities and confront hate.

Gavin and I are heartbroken by the shooting in Grand Blanc. To be attacked while gathered in prayer, in the middle of sacred service, is unthinkable.

Our hearts are with the Latter-day Saints community and every family who entered church seeking peace but faced terror.

Jen and I are keeping Grand Blanc in our hearts today. Churches must always be places of safety and strength — an attack harming one community of faith is an attack on us all. California stands with Michigan and the Latter-day Saints community.

I left this gathering inspired by endless possibilities for partnership and the opportunity to keep uplifting female founders and funders (and everyone who believes in them). Because when capital flows to women, it doesn’t just generate better returns, it strengthens our communities and environment.

As a result, few female founders’ ideas are able to scale. This impact shapes who gets to go public, what innovations truly matter, and what our culture ultimately values.

It’s a gift to share space in rooms like this one, full of women working to expand capital allocation, women who know the uphill battle firsthand.

We’ve seen progress, but across venture capital, private equity, and other forms of capital allocation, barriers remain.

Our places of learning and healing must never be turned into the hunting grounds this federal administration has tried to make them out to be.

Public safety hinges on the trust between law enforcement and the communities they serve — a bond that's been shredded by the reckless immigration quotas ordered by Donald Trump and Stephen Miller.

We will keep standing up for Californians against this administration's dangerous actions.

Our boys are growing up in a time when too many feel disconnected and unseen. Women and men may face different challenges, but we share a responsibility to lift up the next generation, and that work will take all of us.

A child of California, Robert was a man of boundless creativity and great empathy.

He will be sorely missed, but his legacy will live on through all those that he touched and the millions more he inspired.

He was familiar with difficulty and unafraid of a challenge; he understood the complexities of life and found beauty in the small details.

Robert's care for the world we live in was reflected in his actions, through his environmental work, and through the Sundance Institute.

Robert Redford was one of the foremost actors of his generation, a champion of modern cinema and independent film, and a deeply good man.

California’s story is inseparable from Latino communities. Your history lives in our bones, and your culture fills our daily lives with joy!

We see it in the giants whose contributions shaped generations, and in the everyday heroes whose work and leadership make California the powerhouse it is.

When the news feels heavy, it’s normal to feel distressed or overwhelmed, but you don’t have to carry that weight alone.

No matter your age, background, or immigration status, every Californian deserves care and support.

What was unimaginable for us on 9/11 has, heartbreakingly, become the daily reality for too many others.

In honoring 9/11 as our national tragedy, may we allow its remembrance to move us beyond grief, toward empathy, and toward action for peace, and a more compassionate world.

As we hold space for this anniversary, let us also open our hearts to families around the world who endure violence and loss every day — parents sending children to school, to the market, or out to play, never certain they will return and living under the shadow of war.

September 11th will forever stand as one of the darkest days in our nation’s history. The violence of that morning was without precedent, and it is right that we pause to remember, to grieve, and to honor the lives lost and the families forever changed.

Jennifer and I offer our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of California State Prison - Corcoran Correctional Officer Jonathan Townsend.
