It sure seems like involving “companies” in “education” is wildly stupid and destructive

Congrats to everyone for the Trans Mission concert last night. Massive success, massive good feeling, and how lovely even that the worst TERFs in England (Forstater and Bindel) snuck themselves in like the weirdos they are, only to see all that joy and support.

A detail from the Chronicle of Battle Abbey, showing a historiated initial enclosing a portrait of William the Conqueror, sitting enthroned, wearing a crown and holding a sceptre, with a dog at his feet. The initial is formed from a winged creature.

We have an incredible new PhD placement opportunity to help support the development and curation of our major exhibition on the Norman Conquest, opening in October 2027.

I don't know what it is about this 1820s woodcut of Jack the Giant-Slayer but ... there's something about this 1820s woodcut of Jack the Giant-Slayer.

Very happy to take part in this. The proposed legislation is not fit for purpose, solely benefits AI companies, and will make it even more difficult for many authors and artists to make ends meet.

Honestly, I am absolutely disgusted by academics suggesting that AI can do the reading and writing for you. At a certain point, what you're bragging about is fraud. And in a broader sense, what you're contributing to is the erosion of knowledge and the destruction of trust in academic publishing.

Oh nothing, just wondering out loud if I should reach out to @profgabriele.com to see if he wants to (co-)author a piece on medieval Lego...

(this sense of wonder brought to you by one too many shout-outs to those amazing pieces of plastic on his @americanmedieval.bsky.social Podcast)

It has been _debated_ (not this specific case, but in general) but I'm not sure there's a canonical answer as to whether you will resurrect as you were buried or if the almighty Lord will restore you to a more livable state first.

@pontifactspod.bsky.social will be pleased to know that I may (but probably will not) get to the bottom of why Saint Tudual was thought to have become pope Leo V for a bit.

Well before the miraculous resurrection the kids _were_ the meatballs. It's just that Nick here doesn't seem overly thrilled about it.

Saint Nicholas is not angry, just disappointed, that the meatball sub he ordered turned out to be a tub full of children.

Screenshot of a text I'm writing with the passage "In a nutshell, therefore, I am trying to find a better answer to the question of Saint Nicholas’s popularity than “he was popular because he was a saint who was popular because he was a saint”. And then write a book about why there isn’t really an answer, because the true Saint Nicholas is the friends we make along the way."

"The true Saint Nicholas is the friends we make along the way"

I regret to inform you that I am back on my bullshit again.
